Is it true the latest patch broke Sims 4? Is it unplayable?

Might wanna boot up your game and check it out because it definitely varies from person to person less it's completely world wide for all (much like what happened with the lin-z speaker or simulation lag).

Thus far, the game is still as much as playable for me as it was before the patch. Only thing I've done is chuck a few mods that were causing issues and it's fine I haven't noticed anything out of the usual. The men spawning in women's clothing has been a thing for a good while now WAY before the patch. It only happens on occassion for me, but tends to be female shoe related at times? (Just lucky I don't see it with dresses or with the gtw job. Cept for the one guy that was given a female bathing suit and that's when I had gotten JA/Seasons?) Same with the duplicate inventory thing I had experienced that. Deleted one item and it seemed to still be there. Usually when my sim travels their inventory refreshes and the duplicate/fake item is gone.

That's my experience thus far.

It seems sort of glitchy for me.. I guess? I’ve been getting some routing issues and Sims resetting, but I wouldn’t call it unplayable.

Granted, yes. However, any decent programmer will prevent that in most cases. The wonderful modding community has made this apparent, and becomes more apparent if you dip your feet into modding.

And some bugs are actually just a couple rewrites away, which take at most a few minutes specially if you are part of the team that wrote the code. To cite just a few:

-Simulation lag which as you mention has been around forever, is roughly 75% fixed by using a mod that targets why exactly sims take forever to react.
-Get Famous quirks remain even after you remove them with any method. Within the code, it simply doesn't filter out once a sim's data no longer contains a specific level of fame. Quick, easy fix for a rather gameplay-breaking issue given that if your sim simply wants to give up the stardom life, you still get annoying anger buffs if you don't drink, or uncomfortable buffs if food isn't excellent.
-Grandmaster vampires no longer getting points, again easy fix by targetting rankedStatistic_Occult_VampireXP and properly allow points to be gained.
-Lunch pack forcing sims to return from work/school early - easy fix by overriding the tuning settings actioned when the game is deciding whether to consume the lunch pack or "eat" food at work.

All of these issues can be fixed rather easily (except simulation lag which does take a combo of script + tuning but it isn't anywhere near as complex as other mods) which do not unleash other bugs. It is about not being careless as a developer.

The current bug due to the latest patch that makes scientists from GTW cross-dress and not wear proper attire? It's a careless misplacement in the snippet tuning making it call the StrangerVille scientist outfit instead of the proper career outfit.

I've been playing GTW police career and I even had to stop to think what were these bugs supposed to be again. There's one scientist working at the police station dressing wonky. Easy enough to ignore. I did pop by at the GTW science lab and I think that career would be more difficult to enjoy atm because of the outfit problems. But unplayable? Not really.

I've had a few glitches, but they're minor compared to some of the bugs we had not long ago. The game is still playable and enjoyable.

The latest patch didn't do any harm to me. There are however some severe bugs to be fixed.

The only issues I've encountered were caused by outdated mods, but I don't use many so it was easy to pinpoint which was causing it.

The game is playable but I would heavily recommend that you use mods to get rid on some of the more annoying features. People who are really critical and saying the game is unplayable are people who are tired of dealing with the same bugs when they want to do something specific, like adopting a pet, you can't lecture them for example. Or toddlers that don't get taken care of at daycare.

Unfortunately it seems when they patch the game, older fixes that they did before stops working, or they create new ones. They should do patching much more often.

The game has already been buggy way before Strangerville, you won't be able to spot the difference.
