- DaWaterRatNew VanguardThere's an option under pack settings to turn off aging for farm animals. I think it affects bunnies and foxes too, but foxes may still occasionally be foxes and eat bunnies.
- amapola76Seasoned HotshotTurning off aging is the best option. Be forewarned that this will prevent hatched chicks from aging up as well. I'm mostly ok with this, as I like having a rooster, a few hens, and a few chicks. But when I have needed to age some of them up, I turn aging back on, and then turn it off again as soon as they age up.
If you want to be extra-careful, you could do that and *also* give the ownable livestock healthy treats (I think these are the ones that extend their lifespans), so that even if you have periodic aging days, it will take a very, very long time for them to live out their lives. The only thing this won't necessarily help with is if you have elder bunnies and elder foxes right from the start, they may not make it, because I don't think you can give them animal treats. But turning aging off most of the time will still buy you some time before they pass. - @DaWaterRat
Thank you I had not noticed that feature as I just jumped in to play the new animals without thinking lol
@Amapola76
Thank you for that info. I have been using the immortal sim flag with MCCC so I could leave ageing on for some sims and make my cherished pets (which is all of them basically immortal-) but as said that does not appear to work with the new version of MCCC on the new animals in cottage living which I just assumed would be added (I am hoping maybe later it could be a feature) so I am looking for damage limitation in the meantime. From what you say I will turn ageing off completely again and use the workaround for the chicks and as you say will allow the longest life for elder bunnies and foxes which i will have to accept for now.. :) - amapola76Seasoned HotshotOh, there is one other thing that you could do until your mod is fixed that would be a little bit of a pain, but might be worth it if you are feeling very sensitive to this issue: you could scan the neighborhood for any elder wildlife, and then delete them via household management, if that would be less stressful than watching them go through the whole grim reaper scene.

Thanks for that further info I just turned animal ageing off so do you think I would still need to go this route? - amapola76Seasoned Hotshot

I guess it depends on how upsetting you feel it would be for you personally to lose a bunny or fox. I will say, I've played through a little over a full sims year living in the Bramblewood neighborhood without ever being dragged to a grim reaper scene. However, I did probably spend about half the year accidentally deleting foxes (probably including some elder foxes) that I thought were weird townies because of that glitchy thing that's happening with their thumbnails in household management. So I don't know how representative my experience is. - Hi @Amapola76
Thanks for the extra info i think for now I will turn ageing off and maybe not place bunnies and stuff on the lots I am playing on for now. I hope I don't experience your particular glitch either though :) - RouenSimsSeasoned TravelerThank you for this thread! I just experienced one of my first Sims 4 deaths, my Sim’s chicken. I’ll definitely turn off pack aging if it’s that easy.
(Lol, the forum censored his innocent name, so I deleted it from this post.) - Bienchen has a mod to stop foxes and rabbits from dying. I have ageing on for chicks to age up, and I use this mod then. When I turn ageing off in the game, I remove this mod. However, I have lately struck, perhaps a conflict because even with ageing off and without this mod, the game is letting my chickens die.
