I know this is gonna be a weird discussion but hear me out. I been "playing" The Sims 4 since I bought it back in January of '21 (during a sale at that) after testing out the CAS demo when it was still available - this was my introduction to The Sims franchise. I bought The Sims 3 not long afterwards in March that same year but haven't played it since November of that same year because I didn't like it as much as The Sims 4. Anyway, when I first started "playing" 4, I made a household to play with for a few days and then...I just deleted them alongside that save file. The cycle then repeated itself - start new game, create household, play with them for a few days, delete them and the save file, repeat. After getting tired of that, I started playing around in build mode out of pure boredom but I stopped doing that as well. Then, everything changed when I started planning a household that "fits" me...and I haven't made them yet. Let me explain - when I first planned that household, they originally consisted of normal Sims of both genders and all of the CAS life stages (infants weren't available at the time). However, I changed my plan for this household when I found out more about occults and the fact that I can't create male Sims very well. So now, I have an all-female household (the Williams family) with all of the CAS occult types and life stages - Mystelle Williams (elder and spellcaster), Louvenia Williams (adult and werewolf), Cassandrea Williams (young adult and vampire), Kailanni Williams (teen and mermaid) Novanna Williams (child and alien), Fayth Williams (toddler and as for her occult type, I'll explained that below), and Destini Williams (infant and human). Mystelle is the adoptive mother of Louvenia. Louvenia, on the other hand, is the adoptive mother of Cassandrea, Kailanni, Novanna, Fayth, and Destini, thus making them Mystelle's adoptive granddaughters. The household also has an unicorn named Phantasia. The house that I'm going to build for them will be a normal suburban home that's also haunted. Now, Destini and Phantasia were last minute additions because infants and horses weren't in the game at the time when I first planned the household since Fayth was originally going to be the only human and that I was going to have a kitten and adult dog as well. I scrapped the kitten and the dog because I replaced them with Destini and Phantasia (I might bring the kitten and the dog back if the household limit increases in a possible update). Back to Fayth - Fayth is supposed to be a fairy but the game doesn't have fairies yet, so I can't create the household until they add them. Another reason why I can't create the household at the moment is because some of the current CAS and build mode items aren't what I had in mind for some of the girls (with the exception of Louvenia). You're probably wondering what I be doing with the game nowadays...well, I mostly play around in CAS and browse the Gallery because I'm not able to create my planned household at the moment. I don't want to start a new game and enter live mode until I make that household. And before you even ask, I play with aging off, I'm not a rotational player, I don't play with pre-mades, I don't do challenges or scenarios, and I certainly don't use mods or CC. I know this is very confusing but please, I need honest opinions about this. 🥲UPDATE: I added some things that I forgot to mention when I first posted this.

When I was a kid, my brother used to make a household of toddlers in panda onsies, 1 ghost parent if he didn't glitch the game somehow and have 8 toddlers, and made them all live in a box with no windows. He also gave them all the same name? This was Sims 3. He did this in every new save, and made new saves often. TBH I don't even find -that- weird, just different. So, no, what you're doing isn't weird at all! I actually think it's pretty interesting. I used to try to make my sim's eyes as Sims-3-Alien as possible, have 1-4 children, age them instantly to YA, and abandon the save. Everyone plays the sims differently!I would try the scenarios though they're pretty fun lol

It makes total sense to me - you have a story you want to play, but not the tools to play it yet. That was werewolves for me. I hit a point in my story where I needed more tension between occults, and werewolves seemed like the solution. Too bad it was another 8 months before they released. Right now I'm in a lull because I played out a story a certain way and want to go back with pose player and "fill in" all the missing moments that I had to imagine, so there's a huge part of me that isn't ready to advance their lives forward until I shoot the in between scenes.If you're content playing the game like this, then I'd just keep on as is until they hopefully finally release fairies. If you want more in the mean time, you could fill out the save with the perfect community lots and NPCs to surround your main characters so they have to perfect world to be dropped into. Another potential option is playing out the early lives of Mystelle, Louvenia, and Cassandria up to the point where you make the household as you want it. Bonus of that is they have the time to accumulate skills and bonus traits so they're not just blank sims when you're ready for the family.

I kind of want them to be blankies since I want to develop their skills from the get-go and discover things about the game along the way. I appreciate the suggestion though. ?

That's very unlike me. I still don't think it's necessarily weird? I'm kind of in a limbo too, so let me just use this message to share where I'm at. The biggest difference is I'm more hands on I can usually start playing any sim and get attached to them and the goals I set them. Usually. I love rotational play and have a big save I've been playing since I got the game. I'm very attached to all my sims there, but for months now I've been feeling stuck. I also have a legacy save that's at generation three now where I've been setting up the world my heir would move in... but it's just not coming together. I don't want to play anything. I've been wanting to start fresh and then not wanting to because it's a lot of work to create a big save! I don't know what to do. I have tried to play a little, but it has felt very superficial and I get bored so fast. Then I get stuck trying to do the planning, secret relationships and plots that tie the neighbourhood together. I'll search the gallery and find lots that feel sort of right but still don't want to start playing. I don't feel like creating sims. Now after writing this I think my problem is I'm too focused on planning maybe?

You have paid for your game I suppose you can use it whatever way you please. If you have fun styling sims in CAS, that is fine, at least you are using the game. Maybe you could try and tell your story in writing if the game doesn't offer you the assets you need to play it out. Or you could come up with a reason why Faye doesn't have her fairy wings. But to me sounds like you can't get involved into the gameplay, and I doubt that you will play out this story when and if we do get fairies. When the gameplay is captivating you get sucked in and play even if some things are not 100% to your liking and come up with reason why some things are not how you'd like them to be. Personally, I have found that if you don't put too much planning in your characters and stories and just follow the in game prompts, the sims wishes, likes and dislikes, etc., the stories tend to play themselves out and sometimes you end up with unexpected plotlines and I find that more interesting than planning the whole story in advance.

Thanks, but it's not that I have a "story" in mind for them, I just want to play the game normally with this household...which I can't create yet. I kind of want them to be blankies since I want to develop their skills from the get-go and discover things about the game along the way. I appreciate the suggestion though. ?

You see, when I "played" my first few households before I planned this one, I got bored of them real quickly because they didn't "fit" who I am. I like uniqueness and playing a normal Sim family didn't excite me at all...that's when I found out about the occults. The occults interest me because they're different creatures with their own unique abilities. I also wanted to play with all of the life stages (with the exception of babies, or newborns as they're called now) in one household because I hate aging (I always disabled it every time I make a new game) and I want to experience them all at once. I know most other players like to a create a story for their game but I just want to play it normally and let it surprise me. ?‍♀️

That's actually my favourite thing too, letting the game surprise me and going forward by the little hints it offers :smile: I wish I could get into playing and enjoy that again. I normally play all kind of sims, some fit who I am and others not so much, but I think it's a good idea to look for a sim that I can relate to in order to get back into playing.

I love the tip given by @crocobaura that you could come up with an excuse why Faye's wings aren't showing and still play her as faerie. I honestly wouldn't wait if I had the perfect family, because there's no quarantee when a faerie pack might be coming out. Yes, there have been hints and I think it's likely to happen but is it the next after the Rent pack who knows. You could also think further and maybe start playing as the grandparents of your ideal family. Then you would have something meaningful to do while waiting for the right content. I am not sure how well this would work with aging off, but they could be immortal even if the children would be growing up. I realize maybe this doesn't work for the way you play, so maybe rather a group of friends for your ideal family that you could play meanwhile? One option is also to play a version of your perfect family and then when you get the desired content to start over like it was an alternative reality.

Well, I actually dismissed @crocobaura's idea...so yeah, that's not going to happen. As for your suggestions, I'm not interested in them either (I'm picky, okay?). The fact that I'm autistic doesn't make things any better...I like specific things and want it to stay that way. ?

I got an idea for my stuck legacy game. I've been placing houses and sims in Evergreen Harbor so my heir Manu could move in there. He rolled the villanious valentine aspiration, which is basically impossible with three generations in since neighbourhood stories doesn't create couples. His aspiration asks to break up 10 couples and my game has 0. My plan was to create these couples in Evergreen Harbor myself and then let him break them, but I did not enjoy this idea. It just felt empty. So I came up with a new idea of creating a copy of Manu in a fresh save where I can play through the aspiration with premades. After completing it I will go back to my original game and cheat the reward trait for Manu and roll a new aspiration for him. It will be like he was having a bad dream, but then... was it all just a dream? This is what I want to play right now :)
