Meals on counters/tables disappear when rotating households

I have Sims with the trait that makes food never spoil in most households that I play, which means I tend to leave family and group meals out on the counters all the time. Playing rotationally now, it seems this is something I cannot do?

Any meals that I left out on a residential lot are often completely gone, vanished, disappeared when I rotate back to that household. But it doesn't always happen, just sometimes. And it doesn't seem to happen to households living in apartments, just residential. And it's not because Sims have eaten them....before anyone guesses that. :lol:

I haven't been playing rotational long, so I was hoping someone who has been knows more about what causes it. Should I just always put meals away before rotating away from a household? Or is there something else I'm doing wrong that is causing it?

Edit: I figured out is happening when I visit a residence with a played sim from a different household. When I do that, the meals that were out on counters will all be gone when I rotate back to the household who actually lives at the residence. I believe it is caused by the same clean up scripts which clean up food, plates, cups, glasses, etc. on community lots between visits.
