- I'm excited for the new gameplay (of course!) but I hope they continue the option to send your sims down the rabbithole so one can focus on their toddlers gaining new skills. Sometimes it's nice to only focus on a few sims for a couple sim hours if you are playing a big family.
Excited to see what they'll come up with next! - i can give modders a week or two for more freelancing careers to pop up
- GrumpyGlowfish6 years agoSeasoned AceI'm currently not at home, but making plans for a new household, so could someone quickly check and tell me if the freelancer careers are available to teenagers? And if not, can something be done about that? Since there are no fixed working hours that could interfere with education, and those career options are all things teenagers are able to do both in real life and in the game, it should be possible.

I would be especially happy with gigs for these two skills. No computer for tablet involved, just sims getting stuff done. Personal trainer gigs, fixing stuff gigs and taking pics.
Won’t be able to play this straight away because I am waiting with patching the game but I am keeping my eyes on the forum :) - I'm really enjoying the new freelancer option - it definitely added to gameplay in a way that registering with the Ministry of Labour did not. I don't like active careers because I have to leave everyone else in the house on self-care, and the one time I did follow my scientist to work, I was rather annoyed with the tasks she was given. Ordinary rabbit-hole careers can be useful for getting a Sim out of the house when I want to concentrate on other Sims, and I like playing them through just to see what stages the career will reach and get the unlocks.
The freelance careers are entirely different - it's not a repeat of the same actions for every gig (like the programming side-job), and it feels a bit more purposeful than having a Sim sit there for ages programming a game or writing a book. They did a nice job with this - if it had come with a pack, it's something that I would have felt was worth spending money, and it seems to be fairly unbuggy (is that a word?). - I like what they did with freelancer. It fills that void between rabbit-holes and working from home by giving you "missions" to complete. But its more flexible than the location careers like actors and doctors which got annoying.

You've probably found the answer for yourself already, but I did check last night (the first chance I've had to play this week), and 'freelancer' was not available for my teen. There might be some mods that allow them to do the freelance options, but it isn't there in the vanilla game.- GrumpyGlowfish6 years agoSeasoned Ace@invisiblgirl Nope, still on vacation, so thanks for the info!
I'll look for a mod when I'm back home, but I can even imagine it being patched in eventually. I mean, it would totally make sense as I explained, maybe the developers just haven't thought of it.
