Is anything of the new playground usable by toddlers?

Toddlers can use everything but the ladder. I'm not sure about the climbing wall (I could swear I saw one climb it, but couldn't repeat it later. It might be that they always prefer stairs if available). They can definitely access the platforms via stair pieces, and use everything slotted to the platforms other than the ladders.

Can mermaids do the water woohoo, in other words did the team create an animation for mermaids?

I haven't tested Water Woohoo with Merfolk yet, but you can Woohoo anywhere you can swim (so pools or open water that is deep enough. No ponds).

The trailer showed a vampire with the getaway task to drink plasma. What other options are there. I am specifically hoping for a use friendly spells and brew potions for my spellcasters

I haven't tested if Fight includes occult duelling/any Friendly Sparring yet. Witchy Herbalism Skill is missing, but Apothecary/Gemolology Skills are available. Telescopes can get you abducted.)

Is it possible to visit a custom lot without being in a getaway? Are getaways only possible on custom lots?

Custom Venues are a type of Community Lot. Getaways are a type of Event. They share Scheduler tools (Roles and Timeslots), but are otherwise different systems.

You can visit Custom Venues like any other community lot. They have a repeating daily schedule that is hidden when visiting the lot. Roles can be assigned via setting Role Criteria, like with Getaways. Custom Venue Schedules can be saved to be reused elsewhere.

Custom Venues form the basis of premade and Gallery uploaded Getaways. If you download a Custom Venue and place it on a lot pre-zoned to Custom Venue (like when placing Residential Rentals), then the saved Schedule will transfer with it. You can then save the downloaded venue's Schedule to your collection if you wish.

Getaways can happen on nearly every lot type (I posted a list somewhere, check Index). You can have them on Custom Venues if you wish, giving you a base schedule to build from, and likely any needed activities already included. You can also have them on a standard venue type, in which case you'll have to load up a Schedule from elsewhere as a starting point, or make one from scratch.

If you wanted to share a live-in resort or something similar with it's Schedule intact, you might be better off uploading it as a Custom Venue. If you upload it as a Residential (or variant of) then it won't come with a Schedule and downloaders will have to make one.

Can we organise a getaway in Granite Falls or Selvadorada?

You can, but not on Vacation Rental venues. No idea why, because it doesn't make sense. Just has to be a valid venue type. If you can place the venue in destination worlds, you can have Getaways there.
