Question about City Living lot traits

How destructive/useful/active are some of these traits? I'm still working on a Penthouse and I just got this expansion yesterday.

I added haunted just for fun, how active is this and is it destructive?
I'm also wondering how active the gnomes and gremlins are since I was considering these for a smaller apartment out of sheer curiosity.

With cursed is it like haunted or do things break/catch on fire a lot?

  • I’m not familiar with how all the traits work since I haven’t used all of them, but from my experience the effects of the negative traits like haunted and gremlins occur a occasionally, like maybe once every two days at most.
  • Both gnomes and gremlins will come to fix/destroy if you have all Sims in that household sleeping before midnight. As for haunted, a ghost will usually appear around midnight every couple of days or so to haunt the night and break stuff usually. As with cursed, no ghosts come but you have a much higher chance of dying or having your objects break often, or get electrocuted, caught on fire, eating bad food, getting filthy a lot.
  • Most of them do nothing but change your Sims emotion, or boost certain skills. Haunted summons random ghosts from the world to your lot at night. Cursed causes objects to break more frequently. Gremlins similarly breaks objects, gnomes fix them.

A little tip: Do not have your sims live on a lot that has Gremlins and Cursed lot traits. Gremlins break every object on your lot and to get them fixed, you'll have to see a lot of repairpersons' death by electrocution.

haunted seems to work better or more often on public lots. with residential lots, you'll be lucky to see a ghost show up once a week. with public lots, they tend to show up pretty much every time you visit the lot after sundown. i have a vampire bar set up beneath a graveyard that has the haunted trait. sometimes it's got more ghosts than it does vampires, even on nights that aren't ghost night

also, for absolute silliness, you can put gnomes and gremlins on the same lot. they don't cancel each other out. i haven't actually done it to see what happens, but it's tempted me a few times

that is tempting to try lol
  • I play full worlds with rotating households. When I got City Living I set lot traits to all lots, which I regret very much today. I think those traits often takes away from the basic game challenge, besides some of them filling my screen with floating symbols, looking silly on any photo or film. I recommend not adding traits to all lots, but rather adding just for specific occasions when it might add to the fun.
