Sims cannot directly drown sims

Update: I had the townie join the family, where her needs were reset obviously, when I hit her with 1 Siren call, all her needs actually drained to a smidge and in the red, didn't take long after that and I didn't try it again, she drowned after a couple of minutes, so it may be a bug that the devs plan on fixing?

I mean...this. Never, in the Sims nearly 20 year run, has a Sim ever been able to directly kill another Sim without mods being involved.

Perhaps they didn't play test enough to discover that we could make vampire slayers. :)

I tried the siren's call and summon threat option couple of times on the same sim, and got him away from the land and he died of exhaustion. But he was in my household, he didn't die while out of my control.

I don't want killing in the Sims. There are millions of other games for this purpose.

The mermaid powers are mostly about moodlets. That's it.

Way back when I got involved in the Sims2 forums I was simply aghast at how many were actively seeking to kill off their Sims. So, I get your shock and dismay. While I don't actively seek to kill my Sims, I am disappointed that random deaths appear to be a thing of the past. It's all way too P.C. and pre-school-ish in nature. Bad things happen to good Sims, it's simply the way of the universe. Without a fear our Sims might or could be killed, it takes an intriguing element out of the game.

I never thought I would, but I just shut off emotional death from my game, via MCCC. I was unhappy that the devs scaled down the likelihood of it happening which took far longer for me. I have had this game since release and it was only recently I experienced my first death by emotion. It took me by surprise, and I suffered not one, but two in the same game. It was a Charity Event hosted by my Global Superstar. Both his brother-in-law and his younger sister died during said Event. Talk about a show-stopper. But it was only after the latest patch that the game seemed to target said Global Superstar. He suddenly went Hysterical, for no reason I could detect and by the time I removed the buff via MCCC, it was too late. He died. I exited without saving. Second go-around in the same save I found out his older brother was telling him jokes and that's what caused the Hysterical mood. He died anyway. He was on the verge of dying a third time, again Hysterical, despite my going back two game saves when I ended up switching out this saves file for a copy of the backed-up one I made prior to the patch. Then he almost froze to death. Yikes. Since then, I have disabled death by emotion. But at least I have finally experienced it.

I just had something similar happen the other night. My sim only had a +2 playful buff and suddenly he turned hysterical and died. Then I had an issue with grim not appearing. The sim who died from laughter had like 20 death flowers in his inventory so I wasn't too concerned it. I gave his roomate the death flower to hand to grim when he arrived but he never did. Grim never appeared and I just got an urn instead.

So I exited and reloaded. I had saved just before he turned hysterical and it happened all over again. It was Love Day and all he had was +2 Playful from something. I use MCCC, so I was quick thinking and flagged him as immortal so he wouldn't die again, which worked. I think something is definitely off with emotions going haywire. My situation sounds similar to your experience with the hysterical death.

I just want sims in sims 4 to have actual consequences to their actions! What’s the point of an evil mermaid If they can’t be evil :(

Since some of you guys managed to drown Sims as long as they're part of the household then my bet is that townies are coded to have locked motived to prevent them from drowning or it would've been problematic when they swim from one end of the map to another with their needs low. So even if a modder removed that restriction, it would probably mess with the rest of the game. It could've been avoided if they made a new death type for siren song or sharks, as long as it's not tied to exhaustion death it would work. So not only did they cut corners but also made a dishnonest advertisement. I'm disappointed, but not surprised :s

Hoping for a mod to fix this :/
