Tell me about Kleptos

Klepto sims are fun to use, shame they have such a large cooldown between stealing. But I hate townie klepto sims because they just steal and steal things right in front of you, I wouldn't mind it if they just stole every so often while alone but they will burgle your house in front of your eyes, so annoying.

Another question. If my Sim is Klepto do I direct his stealing or does it just happen?

Thanks @izecson - I wouldn't invite - but on the Island - people gather for parties (like Kava) and it is impossible to know the characteristics of everyone.

Kleptos will absolutely steal anything that isn't nailed down (or locked away). One stole my sims first accolades award right infront of him AND his friend. She didn't seem to mind that she had witnesses. There was nothing I could have done, the award was lost either way. I have no excuse though, I use the Show Sim info mod, and I should have checked. She never would have been allowed inside had I known.

If I can, I'll make a basement room where not even my own sims have access (no stairs or doors). That way I'll know that things I don't want to lose will be safe. I'll also some times save that basement (as room) to my library, just in case something freaky happens, like the game crash and I haven't saved properly in a long while.

@simstr0ng Not that I know. If the townie is a "not in world" sim, they have no household inventory such items can go into, and you can't check their personal inventory without having them move into a house either.

In my case she WAS actually a paparazzi, which I didn't know initially. My sim met her while she was off duty. And every paparazzi I've checked later has the Klepto trait just like kalaksed said. I've avoided them like the plague since.

@Kathykins - yes I noticed that about the paparazzi. Don't know what to look for on Sulani and I enjoy all the islanders coming to visit and to parties.

After reading this thread I feel like something must've caused the kleptomaniacs in my game to be nerfed down, because I haven't encountered that many burglaries. Or maybe I did but turned blind. hmm.

One thing though, I did catch a vampire sim who was breaking in stealing my sims' decorative (forgot what it was) during an invasion... have any of you had that? I thought it was impossible but then it did. :(

@PlainConey - I haven't had a klepto in a long while but I had been careful in asking news Sims about themselves...until I got to the island and now I enjoy strangers coming into the house. No klepto yet...but it occurs to me it will happen. Is there anything they won't steal? Like is furniture ok?
