We need to talk about the lots. Seriously!

I accepted the fact that TS4 has premade world and lots but if we can not change anything in the premade worlds, at least the lots should be made better. Especially in MWS Game Pack the lots are totally weird. Every of lot is not connected to the pavement or street or not match to the neighbourhood but this is not the first time when lots are totally weird and ill-considered. Examples of bad lots in TS4:

I don’t like most of the pre- builds.

Oftentimes whoever built it didn’t really consider the environment, so a structure can look extremely out of place.
I usually blast the bricks out of ‘em and build my own and make it work in the game

yeah I'm putting together separate build save atm since with current lag its pain to play

and i started fresh save to just place all the builds in from my other saves and man it was so weird seeing all the original lots cause ive had my own versions for so long

so many places i consider peak fun in my game now were originally like really sad and boring

Prebuilds never bothered me. It's fun to build something new.

well that is true I would build new things anyway

I just feel with new prebuilds they're kinda so complicated that its become harder to do like half way editing build without bulldozing it all

like when i edited the thebe house i had such hard time trying to just edit out the clutter and not bulldoze important things

It would have been so nice to have a couple of apartments in the shell buildings and the white building on the pier to be an actual lot.

Yes. It's a missed opportunity. There are so many disconnected lots in the game already. Tardosa homes could have been the homes in Del Sol Valley, it's the same kind of set up. Only the scenery is different. An apartment in town and places to set up retail shops would have made the world more interesting.

I want to highlight that I want to talk about lots, not premade buildings in this topic. I also don;t care if any premade lots are ugly because we can replace them. Unfortunately we can not do anything with worlds and lots placing. For example this lot doesn't match to the premade space, because there is a huge margin between the lot and the edge:

I don't really mind that margin because you can travel on it, and use it as your own, put portable chairs and such on it, but yes, it would have been so much nicer if the lot extended to cover the whole area. Given where it's located, it makes no sense to leave out the extra space.

My guess is that it's performance related: they wanted to make the lot smaller so things would run more smoothly, but left the area around the edges to make it feel more spacious.

I don't mind that, but it seems like in older packs when they did this, they would at least put a few trees or bushes scattered around the edges to make the transition less stark. I'm thinking of Windenburg and Brindleton Bay in particular. Here there's absolutely nothing, so it's glaringly obvious that the lot doesn't fill the space. I would have taken out the tree that's in the front corner of the house, and instead I'd have put a tree in that area but just outside the lot. A few cypress or harvestable lemon trees scattered around, with maybe one or two other harvestables, would have really helped the lot blend into its surroundings. Plus maybe a bench overlooking the sea.
