I definitely agree with you. At one time I had great hopes for TS4 build mode but now I seriously doubt many improvements are going to happen. One thing that could seriously improve build mode (for me) would be to add new stair types. They have been requested multiple times over the past 3 years and still haven't come to fruition. The decision that was made to "simplify" elevators by not allowing them to be available anywhere else in the game other than San Myshuno and eliminating any up/down travel animation- was both a wake up call and a huge disappointment for me. I'm really getting tired of hoping, and asking, and waiting. One the plus side, I'm definitely saving money by not buying any new packs for the game."Steve Storm;c-16105566" wrote:

Same here. I decided to wait until City Living was out before making a final decision. After discovering it wasn’t even close to a smidgen of what I was hoping for, I decided to save myself a heap of money and haven’t looked back. I hit a point where I told myself I wasn’t buying any more packs until EP3. Glad I stopped after the movie SP or I would probably be having some regrets.
All this game has really offered is disappointment after disappointment. I don’t even care about what the next pack will be. I just want to know if/when it’s time to start watching for an S5. Even then, I will be skeptical. I don’t think I can ever blindly buy a pack for a sims game, or even a Sims game, from this company again. S4 has been a huge wake-up call for me when it comes to being a faithful customer.
I will not buy on hope alone. I need something substantial to put my money toward.- GalacticGalSeasoned Ace

It would be much better if foundations were attached to specific rooms, rather than the entire lot, although I suspect that this may not be possible and that, even if it were, introducing such a change at this stage would mess up our existing builds. I would love to be wrong, but I don't hold out much hope.
I love the different wall heights, but I wish we could use different wall heights for different rooms/buildings/sections of a house on the same level. It would make buildings look much more realistic. We used to be able to create this effect in Sims 3, by using different foundation heights and/or by adding a "frieze" layer on top of some rooms, although It was an unwieldy method and it was impossible to make adjacent rooms with different foundation heights, unless you used complicated cheats (which often ended up making your walls look weird anyway). A lot of us complained about this at the time and I really thought it would be one of the things that would be addressed in the next iteration of the game.
We need indoor platforms again, such as they gave us in Sims2. I can't possibly duplicate a house my best friend once owned the way things are now. You entered going up a mere two steps to a hallway/foyer. From there you went through an arch on the left to the bathroom and two bedrooms on either side at the end of said hall. Then, turning right, you stepped down into the livingroom. Stepped up to the dining room and another bedroom off of this. Straight through to the kitchen. Then stepped down to the laundry room and back door. It was a darling house. - If they do this they also need to fix stairs. Stairs are a nightmare. And with the way stairs are now, there is no way we could have different rooms with different foundations. There needs to make a way to stretch stairs from the ground to a room/patio, and from room to room.
- There are a whole lot of things that need fixing and added. I agree we do need separate foundations, stairs and better terrain tools.
- There's already a mechanic where the player can determine whether or not a fence has a foundation, depending on which direction the fence is 'drawn'. Couldn't the same mechanic be used for adding additional rooms and out buildings?
Just a thought... - Yes. We definitely need different foundations and also the platform tool back! The sooner, the better!
- DestroyerSimsRising RookieThe possibility of also completely removing the foundation so that only the floor is left floating should be also included if they ever decide to improve foundations. With this, players could possibly build things such as bridges over pools.

I agree that we need this! I want to build a farmhouse with a wrap-around porch and a barn for animals but I am stuck with either the barn being on a foundation, which just doesn't make sense, or with the farmhouse not having a foundation and therefore no porch either. It would be perfect if we could give individual foundations to individual rooms. I hope that maybe they'll include this with the cats and dogs patch but I'm not holding my breath.
yeah, me too! my barn has a foundation, and it drives me nuts! - LoanetRising ScoutWhile it doesn't crush my enjoyment of the game, it's definitely something that would improve my building experience.
Now that we have round roofs (Finally! Hurrah!) I'd like round rooms to be easier to make.
