What's With The Short Lifespans?

I was putting off looking at Sims 4 aging for a long time, because I knew it'd be ridiculous, like Sims 3 presets.
Well, I finally looked at it.
In Sims 4, we die of old age from 25 to 32.
I'm a young 35-year-old.
So, I'm going back to Sims 3 until the aging is fixed in 4.

My mother would never explain why she preferred 3 in a way as great of an argument as this.
But, now I not only understand her decision, but agree with it.

In 3, I can live into my 80's without going out of my way to extend my life with running excessively. It can have realistic aging that's simply scaled down in length of years.

In 4, there's no way to make it realistic, and it cuts off over half of our lifespans.

Why are they better than Sims 3 sims in regard to multitasking, emotional complexity, etc., yet they're shorter living, and have less complicated of personalities? Sims has done a weird mixture of evolving to be better while de-evolving to be worse.
