- ChampandGirlie5 years agoSeasoned AceI like having a few different types but I also like Victorians on 40 x 30 lots and I have not tried building one. I also like 30 x 20 lots.
Since I play with multiple households, I like having enough starter homes preferably with 2-3 bedrooms. I utilize the apartments and would now like it if I could fill the lower levels of the Evergreen Harbor apartments as well as the top levels.
I like having the small rowhouses or townhouses to start some sims out. Large family homes are the goals for most of the sims, so yes, I like classic large houses on large lots. Usually I am open to different styles and let the sims add personality to the house itself. I've filled all of Willow Creek so I definitely like that world of varied traditional houses.
Having a lot of character is very interesting. I also decorate a lot with the build objects and furniture from Seasons and from Cats & Dogs. I can work with almost any world & architectural style. Evergreen Harbor is becoming more of a starter world for me with most sims living there for a while before moving somewhere else.
I built a great family house in Del Sol Valley. It just looks like a contemporary nice home. I guess I like Craftsmans as well as Victorians. There are styles that I don't like but I'm usually open-minded and like having different characters with somewhat different styles. A mix of starters and family houses is welcomed by me. - tatselk5 years agoSeasoned Newcomer
I generally like large to medium houses (eg 40X30, 30X20 lots) built in a traditional style. Big enough to contain a variety of skill objects, small enough such that it doesn't take forever for Sims to move from one point to another.
I also like throwing in basements so that the houses can keep their traditional facade but still have all the modern comforts on-site (eg pool, gym).
I used to downloads lots off the Gallery quite abit. But now that I'm on a building spree, I have basically stopped doing that. When I do download lots, I generally use them right away. Mostly because I only go searching in the Gallery if I'm trying to find a specific lot that I need at the moment. - Mid-century modern bungalows.
- simsimsere5 years agoSeasoned AceI'm not sure if I have a favourite house type, but I like 30x20 houses with 3 bedrooms. They're nice to build and also live in, good for families. They're not what I usually download though!
I download from the gallery when I'm redoing the neighbourhood and usually have something specific in mind. I download mostly community lots or bigger houses that I would struggle to build. My latest downloads are cathedral for selvadorada, lounge for sulani, furniture warehouse, mediterranean type family home and mansions for del sol valley. Apart from the furniture warehouse all are quite complex builds that I couldn't had done myself. The warehouse was just spot on otherwise. I normally use what I download right away, but if there are a couple of options I might keep the other one just in case I find a place for it later. - CaprianaB5 years agoSeasoned AceI prefer playing in tiny and small houses because it doesn't take my Sims long to get anywhere within the house. Not sure I have a favorite store of house.
- I don't often get houses from gallery cause i build a lot but i mostly make small family home builds
and interior is often mix between mansion antiques and normal family stuff
also color schemes are often dark cause idk im just addicted to that dark wall with white trim thing
though since they added platforms i have started to build very different stuff
like right now i am working on very modern and "sterile" looking bright new house for landgraabs that is quickly getting way too complicated for my brain to process
oh why didn't i think of how i am going to roof this before i started :weary: - GlacierSnowGhost5 years agoSeasoned AceIn real life, I have a fondness for log cabins and Victorian houses. But in the game, I build all sorts of houses. I try to match the style of the neighborhood I'm building in and/or the personality of the sim I am building for.
I also often like to start with something small (maybe even just one room) and then add additional rooms as my sim gets more money or needs more space. This has resulted in some interesting quirky houses that I like a lot.
I rarely use the gallery. When I do, it's mostly for community lots rather than residential. - The type of lots I love are townhouses and “neighborhoods” (getting a large lot and building multiple houses on it). The only downside is that the game doesn’t like that at all. They’re really just set pieces. Which is unfortunate, considering how easy they are to build and how fun they are.
One of my many wants is them to include a Create-an-Apartment tool, so I can actually make these lots more functional. Bonus points if you’d be free to knock on a neighbors door and go inside with no loading screen. - babajayne5 years agoSeasoned AceI grew up in old houses (one was part of the Underground Railroad) and I work in real estate marketing. I LOVE houses of all kinds but my favorites are Victorians, Georgian Colonials, Tudors, Shingle Style homes and Capes. I don’t like playing in houses that are too big or too small. But I like houses that are big enough to have rooms for everything I like my sims to do. I like making space for the cupcake machine. I love a pretty sunroom with plants everywhere and a flower arranging table. I like color and I am not afraid to use it. I like beautiful landscaping, but it gets laggy if it’s overdone. I’m getting better at building the more I try, but I’m no Art Vandalay.
- Simmerville5 years agoLegendI always preferred small houses, and I don't mind if the bathroom is 2x2 floor tiles and a bedroom 2x3. I prefer several small bnooks and corners for lounging rather than large ball rooms that looks more like a store or gymnastics hall than a home. I think 2 storied houses are cute because they get even more small rooms, and they are effective when I play larger households and it's quicker to shift floor than to pan a larger lot to trace the household members. But - half year ago I introduced nobility to my game, meaning I play more high crust households than ever before, so this includes a fistful of dukes. They don't necessarily reside a castle, but rooms certainly need to be bigger to fit with the walls and decor with a touch of royalty.
I never download builds from the gallery, because I love building them myself. Building is a nice break from playing, giving some variety.
