where do you go to report paysites?

Something about paysites rub me the wrong way when it comes to custom content, specifically because it's against the TOS. SimGuruDrake (back when she was still here) said they don't police it but when reports come in the do investigate it, so, where do I report a site that puts their stuff behind a 3 dollar pay wall?

  • i thought they said it was fine when the things are eventually released to public for free, no?
That's what they do anyway, the cc makers.

Is that really the reason? I think its less likely that you care about the ToS and EA being taken advantage of and more that you're upset because you couldnt download something behind a paywall.

But anyway, whether they investigate it or not they dont do anything about it so reporting it would just be a waste of your time. It would be like going down to your local police station to report a pedastrian for crossing on a red light. Luckily we arent forced to buy anything from anyone so my advice would just be to stay away from those creators if you dont want to give them any money

    nope, it's not a pre-release situation. It's more like a Peggysims situation.

Reksoh, no. I can find other content, and since I make content in Blender, I could do it myself. The point is, it's against the TOS and it's not okay. I'm sure with enough searching I'd find a blog or website with that content because there are other people who disagree with paid content.

Theres a lot of things that creators do that are against ToS. Like when creators take meshes from paid content and make them basegame compatible without even editing them at all. Yet you never see anyone eager to report something like that. I just think when people get upset over things like this, its usually personally charged and its probably not because they care so much about protecting the sanctity of the ToS or how the rules work.

Quite a few paysites are run by people who DO steal from EA and recolour the stolen content,Reksoh. I've seen it happen too many times with Sims 1,2,and 3,and its still happening with Sims 4.In fact, there have been paysites that have scammed people and run off with the money Panda has every right to be concerned about this.

yes, I agree with you that taking content from EA and making it free, it's unfair to the devs, to the people who's already paid for it, and usually within a couple weeks the download itself is removed, so it obviously gets resolved, and then it gets put back up by people who already downloaded it. So on that note, it wont ever get resolved. My point is that if EA actually started taking it seriously, it could stop, or at least diminish significantly. They managed to turn TSR into a no premium content website.

If the concern is over actual scammers taking peoples money for nothing in return then that's another situation entirely, but its still not something EA is going to intervene in. Thats to be taken up with paypal or patreon or whatever else is being used to collect money

It's probably not worth the effort on their end to go and shut down all these paysites which I would imagine is the reason they don't bother. Still, EA is the only one who is negatively impacted by these paysites so if they don't see it as a problem worthy of a solution then I don't know why anyone else should.
