- Lustianicia7 years agoSeasoned AceThe Sims 4: Island Living is 101% better than Sims 3: Island Paradise...
Island Paradise was left with way too many untouched bugs and glitches. Also, it lagged A LOT (especially when using houseboats). Not to mention the hospitality feature of owning a resort was broken and very poorly implemented. It was literally just a rabbit hole tower. The actual content in that pack was fantastic, however... but, what's the point of having all of it when the overall features don't work well?
At least Island Living functions well (for the most part)... and the beaches are decently implemented. In my opinion, the only thing this pack is missing is hospitality options (like building resorts and hotels). Also, it should've been a destination world, as opposed to a home world. - JamesDeanSQ7 years agoSeasoned AceIsland Paradise for Sims 3 was incredible. I don't have Island Paradise for The Sims 4 but from what I've been hearing, Island Paradise is way more immersive and expansive.
From my understanding, Island Living should have been a Game Pack. - JessReneeXP7 years agoSeasoned AceI like Sims’s 4 Island Living better. Island paradise was buggy you couldn’t play it, I love the features it came with but what’s the point when it was unplayable.
- SimsBarbie7 years agoSeasoned AceI think you should experience Sims3 Island Paradise, because why not? :) What I loved was the houseboats, diving under water, introduction to mermaids, and the all-in-one bathrooms. What I did not like was the land itself? Living there was a no no for me. Wasn't beautiful and too bad my sims couldn't visit from other worlds instead. It took forever for my sims to travel anywhere. Oh! and the life guard career was fun. lol I can't remember what kind of treasure was found in the chests.
Sims4 Island living, I love the premade sims, the world is beautiful, I love that my sims can live there and or set up a generic lot for sims to stay the weekend if you want. Tanning, the floaties, and swimming I enjoy more in sims4, even though they can of course do this in sims3. It would have been very nice to have the life guard being an active career but it's fine otherwise. I enjoy the boats and jet skis in both iterations. I have not experienced the festival, drink kava, the volcano balls, conservationist, meet a mermaid except in human form. I am very interested in the ancestral ghost stuff since I enjoy supernatral elements in sims. I've yet to experience it much. I've only seen the little spirits at one of the premades' house. It was creepy but cool.
@tulipssimmer I think you can enjoy something from both sims3 and 4. Have fun. <3 - akl12267 years agoSeasoned AceHmmm so they both have pros and cons. I like both equally so I couldn’t tell you which ones better per say.
Sims 3
Pros:
-huge new world
-diving is a skill with underwater lots
-hotel management
-houseboats
-lifeguard career
-many boat options
Cons:
-the world included is super buggy and has severe routing issues. The underwater lots in the included world also tend to crash. On a computer that plays 4 with all packs on ultra the world lags and stutters constantly.
-at this point in time it is hard to find a legit tropical world with these features included like dive lots and houseboats (tried a few months ago). You may have better luck that I did though.
-hotel management includes rabbit hole buildings for rooms and there are very few options.
Sims 4
Pros:
-conservationist career. One neighborhood on the island changes and goes through stages if you clean it up. You don’t have to be in the career to clean the island either.
-the world is incredible. In my opinion it’s probably the most beautiful world in sims 4. Aesthetically this pack nails it!!
-mermaids!!!! Sims 3 has them but I think 4s are better overall, it’s not really a pro or a con for 3 so that’s why I didn’t list it. They aren’t vampire level fleshed out in 4, but they are nice.
-minor cultural aspects included in game that are fun to mess around with (festivals, island spirits, friendly neighbors)
-amazing CAS and BB.
-it’s the only world currently where you can swim in sims 4. Swimmable areas are decent sized. Not a pro if you are comparing to 3 where every world is swimmable.
Cons:
-too many rabbit holes (diving, part time jobs like lifeguard and fisherman).
-not enough added gameplay to really be considered an EP (the gameplay added is good it’s just all little things, there isn’t a big new element added to the game other than the world).
-it is buggy currently. Not sims 3 bad but it has some issues as well. Hoping for fixes soon though.
I know my pros were short for 3 but figured it was all self explanatory it’s got some good gameplay for sure. Both have good and bad. Sims 3 is cheaper I believe but I don’t know if that makes a difference. Hope this helps. Good luck with your decision. - Definitely IP. If ppl are saying IL is better only because IP was buggy, then it must not be if that is the only reason. Not considering the routing issues, yes IP definitely was a true expansion with all the added boats and water activities like water skiing with the speedboat, windsurfing, and different types of boats. It expanded the entire game and I know I am missing some things here. Plus you could experience the full island by sailing around or using a houseboats. I didn't use them often. You were not contained to one zone. When you went scuba diving, you actually went underneath the water. It was a beautiful world and plenty of lots for the graphics of TS3. I was able to play in this world for over two years and write an epic TS3 story that took me nearly two years to complete without major issues because I used Twallan's mods to help with routing issues and things like that. It's sad that mods were even needed, but that is the only way I could play in it. The only reason I moved my Sims is because I was tired of IP, I had spent so much time working on my story in this world (and many others) that I wanted something different and fell in love with Sunlit Tides.
But yes, like I was saying bugs aside IP was a true expansion and there were several more things to do in it than IL. And I love IL and have been having a lot of fun making new Sulani natives, enjoying the island life, adding to the cultural aspect, and everything else it has to offer. I love the new world and the pack, but it does lack a lot of gameplay. However, I do love the option to have part-time and odd jobs along with OTG trait. I am now able to have some true beach bums and live out my Gilligan's Island fantasy in another save. LOL.
