Why do people not like MOO?

From what I've seen it's mostly because of routing issues. People say some houses on the Gallery overuse it to the point the house is unplayable. I can understand that. I'm guilty of that as well.
I'm trying to be more diligent in play testing before I share. My problem is I get so excited with how well a build turns out that I share before I test it.

I've never had much of a problem with it either in any of the sims games. I never even turn it off in sims 3. Sometimes there are routing issues but then I just move it or delete it.No problem, though, I also have a good computer.

Routing issues. There have been so many times where I download a lot and my sim can't get in or out of a room because of MOO. It's gotten to the point where I straight up delete the entire lot and find another one.

Builders need to learn to playtest their builds before uploading to the gallery.

I am in favor of MOO when used appropriately. Playtesting is a must.

If objects become useless, but I didn’t forsee it, and I’ve sent my sim off to do something and go back to them a bit later and wonder why they never did that thing I asked them to do... that’s incredibly frustrating. I don’t want to have to watch everyone like a hawk when I play a family of 4+.

I also find a lot of unnecessary decorations taking up valuable space in sometimes small rooms. For example, a nursery might have a dresser with a padded bench set into it that looks like a changing table. Creative, but useless, and a waste of space where I could have a dollhouse.

ETA: I’ve even seen builders defend a decision to decorate a bookshelf to the point where it’s not usable, saying there’s other bookshelves in the house so therefore this is ok. But that’s not ok in my opinion, I expect all objects to function unless their only purpose is decorative in the game already.

I don't use it on anything my Sim must interact with, because I simply don't want to deal with clipping, jumping, routing failures, or any other errors associated with it. Objects were meant to be a certain way, and the animations work accordingly.

As for decorations, I have used it with lots I made for myself, mostly to put things closer together because the footprints can be ridiculous (like putting a potted plant against the wall instead of halfway into the room).

I don't use it for any lots I share to the gallery for two reasons. One, because when you place a lot from the gallery, any items placed using MOO can be deleted, altering the look of the lot. I know you can place the lot with MOO, and it *should* place correctly... but I just don't want to do that to people. And two, because I know there are people who don't like it. It doesn't matter why, they won't want my lot if I used it.

I am still learning and already made some MOO oopsies in some uploads, but one really good advice I got was to save the finished lot to my library, then turn off cheats (or even the game completely), and then place the lot from the library on a new lot. When doing this you can see the price difference on the saved lot in the library, and the lot you just placed, and then walk through and see what is missing, and fit it back in (now with moo off). Re-save/overwrite in library, repeat the proces until nothing is missing, and then move a family in to the house to test if everything is interactionable (still moo off). This way you're sure your lots are playable.

I prefer no MOO because I have to specifically remember to turn it on and if I don't it messes up the look of things and breaks stuff.

I'll second the call for playtesting the build first, it makes for a more user-friendly and stable build when you release it into the wild.

I don't mind it in lots I download. Often I will edit builds how I like them anyway. A lot of cases I find it unnecessary, for instance a build could of looked just as good without adding a plant half a square away from where it originally would be placed. I use the cheat myself sometimes just because it bothers me how far away from the walls some items place without it.

I don't hate MOO, but I am careful with it and prefer lots that have been play tested and don't use MOO much. When I initially build something I never use MOO or alt and I limit resizing. I don't want to loose all of my lots should something happen to the MOO cheat so I keep a vanilla copy of everything I build for that reason. I have downloaded lots in the past that have used MOO and not said so in the description and have not been able to use them due to routing issues. If I do download a lot with MOO (and I have a few) I look for the MOO hashtag or the creator states that they have used MOO and that the lot has been play tested. The other problem with lots using a lot of MOO is with over filling the lot with items and having lag due to the huge amount of items layered on the lot. It's more likely with a lot that uses MOO a lot. (Although I did that once on a non MOO lot and got lag so I am now more careful not to stuff too much stuff on a lot.) I don't think anyone is wrong to use MOO and I see many beautiful and creative lots built using it, but I prefer to be cautious with lots I keep in my library and use in most of my saves.
