Why is the game skipping many hours when restarted?

If I save and close my game when the clock is 3 AM, when I restart my game the time in the same house will typically be 7:30 AM. Why does my game skip 4,5 hours? Shouldn't the clock start where I left it? I want to play my sims in their very early hours, too! What if I want my sim to go fishing or jogging before work...

This only happens if I close my game completely, and then restart the program, not if I just leave the house and reenter it without playing other houses. Is this only my game, or do others experience the same? I did not test if time is cut if restarting the game during their daytime.

  • Were your sims sleeping when you left the game? That happens to me when I leave the game and all my sims are asleep. The game is fast forwarding through the night during the loading screen, so when you get to your household, it's now the morning and your sims are awake. It's super annoying because normally I like to get my sims up at 5 am, but when this happens, they don't get up until 7 am or later since the game skipped all that time.

Because the clock starts going before the load screen disappears. To solve the issue, you have to use a mod that lets you start the lots paused. MCCC should have an option for that.
  • Ah, it's that easy? So why didn't EA fix this? There's absolutely no gain from having the clock run before actually entering the lot! I wish lots could be paused when entering, but I'll not install a full 3rd party program for just this detail. I'll find a way.

    Thanks all for replying!

    It goes like this:
I play a household, save it and go back to worlds. Come back and the sims that were visiting are not on the lot anymore. It seems something new and it reminded me of your issue, cause it doesnt restart as how I left it.

Yea, this game is way to fond of randomness. The worst thing is when entering a house in the middle of the night, and nobody is asleep, but preparing food or grilling etc. The randomness has been there for a long time, but in the very beginning I think the entire family would be waiting outside their door, which was even worse.
  • I haven't had this issue - I don't use any mods, but my game is always paused when I enter it. Do you pause before saving and exiting?
  • I always pause the game in-between moving to other households to prevent any time running when the lot is loading.
  • Yes, I always pause the game before leaving a lot. During the same gaming session it might be paused when I re-enter, but when I close the game and enter the lot the next RL day, it will normally not be paused.

Do you have any scripts running that could conceivably be doing that? This seems like a unique issue I've never heard from anyone before.
  • The only time I find my Sims on other clock time than I left them is when I have been playing other households. And I enter the household at the exact time as I left the previous household.

When I exit the game from a household and then go back to it later the time is the same there as I left it and my Sims are doing the same things they were doing when I left. Although sometimes I find them standing beside the object they were working on (f.i. the computer) or sleeping in (f.i. the bed) but as I unpause the game they jump right back to what they were doing.

I did a test on it a few days after I got the game and I found that if I do not pause it, I did find that sometimes (not always though) time has passed within a household when I finally got through the loading window.

But like as stated by a few here above I always, without fail, pause the game before saving and exititing and when I enter a household, it is paused at the time I left.
  • I don't know if this will help you, but I pause my game and then save and exit my game. Next time I load my game it starts exactly that way again, I have to unpause once it starts up, it remains in pause until I do. No mods needed for that, I play vanilla (no cc or mods) and I can do that ;) No time lost, starts the same time to the last minute :)
