- It depends on your definition of "rabbit hole".
If you mean specifically a building in which sim disappear than, yes, technically there are not too many in Sims 4 - but the whole University ;) .
If it's just an activity for which sim disappear (how I define this) than there are tones of rabbit holes - schools, skill classes, all that "concerts" our sims get invited to, all base game jobs that are not active... Any difference between these and sims 3 style rabbit holes is only that sims vanish without using buildings.
Which I assume is the limitation of close world. If rabbit hole say for "concert" would be a building somewhere your sim would have to travel there with loading screen and all that stuff just to vanish while all other sims of your family would be uncontrollable at home. So it's much more effective just to make them vanish from the home lot without any travelling. So no buildings. - SimmerGeorge5 years agoSeasoned AceThere is no need for rabbit holes when there is no open-world. The game can either just load one lot at once or make your sim dissapear when going to work etc.
But for a closed-world game the Sims 4 has far too many rabbit holes. From caves to scuba diving and pretty much 90% of the Journey to Batuu are rabbit hole lots. "SimmerGeorge;c-17851508" wrote:

Ooops, completely forgot about Island Living and Batuu in addition to Uni.- Scobren5 years agoLegendI see them included. Every career has a rabbit hole aspect to it. Transportation is full of rabbit holes. Even the active careers have rabbit holes in them. I think they are included for performance for laptops. Why Sims Stories series was full of texts and rabbit holes too.
- logionX5 years agoLegendSims4 have plenty of rabbit holes, but I assume that you are thinking of rabbit hole buildings like in the sims3?
I'm not sure, the game focuses on just the current lot your sims are living at or visiting and spawns sims around them, they don't really give you much reason to go out and explore the world very often. Everything that you need you can get on your home lot.
I'm not a fan of rabbit holes myself (I think they are very boring and simple solutions that should only be available because the player want to send away a sim while playing another active sim), and traveling back and forth between rabbit holes is very frustrating, try for example playing two sims at Discover University, if you visit the cafeteria and your other sim is on a lecture, then they just spawn back at the dorm and they can't even go to the next lecture or prepare for it.
Imagine for example that one sim goes to a rabbit hole that is "visiting the market" or something. And then another sim in your household travels to the park, what happens to that sim when they are done visiting the market? Do they just spawn back home then and will they remember go to to work after that? - atreya335 years agoLegendJust as mentioned in previous posts it depends on your definition of rabbit holes. I generally consider any activity where sims dissappear for an activity as a rabbithole. For me it does not matter if they go into a building or just vanish at the edge of the lot because in the end it all comes down to the player waiting while until the sims come back. And we just have to imagine what our sims are doing.
Unfortunately sims4 have plenty of situations where sims vanish for an activity. I like that most careers which are added now have a work from home option. If only they would update all base game jobs to have a work from home option, along with the schools. Such an update would have been a nice gesture in a time where so many of us have to work or study from home.
On a side note : I am amazed by the fact we now have 3 packs with a rabbit hole cave to visit : Island living, snowy escape and journey to Batuu. I wish they would lead to a secret lot like the forgotten grotto in oasis springs. - It's a shame there isn't many, I really don't understand the anti on them. I would much rather my sim actually go somewhere for work rather than just disappearing into nowhere.

There aren't enough lots to go with the neighbourhoods as it is, they can't use them up with rabbit holes and the neighbourhoods are quite small, they can't plop them in the neighbourhood space either. Also I wouldn't like to travel with my sims to their workplace just to wait outside on the sidewalk for them to end their shift. I say good riddance to rabbit hole buildings, they are big and bulky and do nothing for gameplay, like the stadium in University. "crocobaura;c-17851593" wrote:

They could actually include them in all that empty space around neighborhoods. They don't have to be on a lot, just somewhere a sim can get to.
Heck, I'd be happy if my sim could walk to those fake buildings beyond and just walk into one. At least they'd go somewhere.- SheriSim5 years agoSeasoned AceI hated the rabbit holes in the sims 3. I could send a sim to work, but not go inside the building. Why couldn’t I have at least decorated the inside, and played with them my way inside? When I saw the restaurants were rabbit hole too, I was so disappointed after the restaurants in the sins 2. I bought the first 2 packs and then stopped playing the game. It was unstable and crashed too.
In the sims 4 I thought we were going to get mote active careers like in get to work. I was so looking forward to jobs with more workplaces. You had a choice to go or not go, and I thought they were pretty in depth, I loved them!!.
At least in sims 4 I can make my own work places, with all the career objects we got with rabbit holes. Too bad I didn’t have a choice to work at home with the rabbit holes, but at least I could send them there after work to do their homework work, it could also be used for some freelancers. It didn’t take up a lot of space. I made a 20x15 office building. On the firstt floor was a waiting room with a bookshelf that looks more like a living room shelf with sofas and plants, bathrooms, and a children’s play area. Second floor was for tech guru’s with a lot of computers, and a couple of chairs and a coffee pot. The third floor was for my business executive with a secretaries office/small waiting room, and the executives office, could be used for even had the little world drink thing that looked like a world globe, this place can be used for my lawyer too. The first basement was a small work out room, sauna and massage table, and an eating area for lunches, I later made that eating area a cafe too, with a bar. The another basement is for my secret agent , and can also be used for my military covert operator. Another basement is a small home suite for my CEO. I also added a laundry mat on one of the floors with another child play area. So that building can be used for at least 4 or more work places. Plus a cafe, and place for my executive to entertain. So space is not a big problem, though we do need a lot more lots, many of mine have to do at least triple duty. I have a mall/hospital retail too I like one thing about the first rabbit hole careers.... the fact that they gave us a lot of promotion objects that could be used to make a work area. Too bad we couldn’t choose work from home with them too.
I know some people have made schools for their teachers, I think I downloaded one, still need to find a place for it. I’m not sure if I can send them to university to sit in on things there after school. And I need to download a lot I can use to make a spot for a judge, politician, and that planner in Sulani. I also like those little jobs you can do in Sulani, and sales table and hobbies that create things you can sell on tables, along with beachcomber items and archeology items, and things like that.
.My DJ in sims 4, or a team dance group or bartender, only needs to go to a night club. My DJ ears money too, can’t remember if the bartender can earn money. I have to say I was disappointed in the military career, too few career additions, iwidh they had the object from the sims 2 and a shooting range, instead of just the sparing machine. Career rewards are well used in my game.
After realizing concerts and holiday rabbit hole were rabbit holes, I never used them again. I also haven’t been to the cave in Sulani, and quite honestly don’t much care for University. We could at least have been sent to a place like Sylvan glade for a set up concert to sit down and watch. Maybe we will get bands later and be able to make our own concert.
Rabbit holes for me are no fun.....
