whenever I pick a place for my sims to live and i press move it keeps taking me back to the manage worlds menu 😢

This is a broken mod that causes this, try removing the mods you have and check the scarlet list to see whats broken
Are you a mod user? The August 2025 patch (1.117) broke many, many script mods, with this being the symptom, and these are still the ones most likely to be your problem. Use the Previously Broken mods and CC for many (not all!) mods that have no updates. Use “Updated” in the Broken/Updated Mods list for patch 1.117 as a second starting point, and see the lists linked in Mod & CC Issues: START HERE.

how do remove the mods and check the scarlet list?
