Poses not turning out how i hoped.

I downloaded a few pose packs to re-create a family photo from real life. 

I place the teleporter front facing all in a line, like the real life photo is set up. 

Why oh why do sims not sit facing the camera like i want them to when i ask them to pose? This is how my set up ends up after unpausing the game:
