Re: bb.moveobjects cheat not working

@kazfree16  When you say MoveObjects isn't working, do you get a notification that it's on?  Can you not move any items outside their normal limitations, or is this just an issue with placing Gallery builds?

@SoyokoAnis  This is not a necro: replying to a post that's a bit less than five months old is absolutely fine.  I think we might have talked about this before.

@puzzlezaddict hi. I'm having the same problem. and it only happens when i try to place the lots from the gallery. I have enabled the testing cheats and move objects and even got the notifications from it saying that both are on. but i still get the green notifications that some items might be missing. I hope you can help me solve this. thank you in advance.

@Jazzy92211 @kaitem25 You will get that green notice when placing any item in your game that used MOO, at all, when it was built. That notice does not indicate that MOO has been enabled and is now enabled in your game or lot, but rather that everything that was placed in the lot will stick where placed, as it you had enabled MOO in order to place your lot. The notice is also trying to let you know that because items were placed using MOO, there is a chance that issues will be present if they were not properly play-tested to make sure all areas are useable, etc., after using MOO to place things. Also, certain debug items placed by a builder may be removed when placed because they were not items that will remain on a lot. For instance, some items in debug are part of an animation for a task, such as cooking, and some of those will not remain if you placed them from debug. Any items that are from a pack you don't own will also be removed.

Testing cheats does not need to be enabled to use MOO. It is a separate thing. There are directions with screenshots at this page on enabling MOO, enlarging, raising and lowering, alt-placing objects, rotating, etc., if you find that helpful.

Move objects will need to be re-enabled when you enter or leave a lot. In the cheats panel you enter bb.moveobjects OR bb.moveobjects on then press enter to turn it on, and you should see a message below that states "Move Objects cheat is ON". If you then enter bb.moveobjects (for a second time) OR bb.moveobjects off then press enter, you should see a message below that states "Move Objects cheat is OFF".

  • That is exactly what I did. I went into the world, put bb.moveobjects on and it said it was enabled, but when I put down the plot, it said that bb cheats weren't on and when I checked out the plot, many things were missing. I have no idea what to do. Please help!!!

    @0502185

If your game is fully updated, there was a game update not long ago that made it unnecessary to enable MOO in order to have things placed with MOO in a build stay in place when you place the home in a lot. (Please see comment #13).

    How to update your game:

    Spoiler
    • open Origin
    • click ‘Game Library’
    • right-click Sims 4 > Update Game

Please note that any item that is from a pack you do not own will be deleted when the lot is placed. Also, if you are downloading a lot with Custom Content and you do not own that custom content those items will be deleted when placed.

    Did try a game repair?:

    Spoiler
How to run a game repair:

    • Open Origin, click ‘Game Library’ then right-click Sims 4 > Repair Game
    • Let it run until it has completed all repairs. It will do the base game first, then run through each of your DLCs (Expansion Packs, Game Packs, Stuff Packs and Kits).

If you have gone through the steps above and the issue persists, please try in a new game save and see if this makes a difference. Are these lots you are getting from the gallery, or does this happen with all lots you place? Did you try placing from the Maxis lots that came with your packs and should be found in your library?

  • @SheriGR no what i meant with "notification" was the message that says MOO was enabled. and yes. I have followed all the steps. enabling and re-enabling the MOO cheats every time entering a new lot. but there are still items missing. this happened only to lots from the gallery.

    @Jazzy92211

Can I please make an example/suggestion? Since I'm not sure how many packs you own, I am wondering if you would be able try something. I have a lot that I made using only basegame items (no packs). It is available in the gallery under my name and is named "BaseGame $18.5K Starter". I just placed this lot in my game by going to the World Map View, choosing the lot from my library, and placing it on a 30x20 lot in Newcrest. While the game is placing the lot you should see this screen:

Once the lot completed the placement, I got this message both in the World Map View...

...and when I enter the lot I also see the message:

Is this message different or the same from the message you see in your game? If you download this lot from the gallery and place it in your game, do you see a different message? The message does not remain long, but if you could grab a screenshot of the message you see in your game if it's different and share it here so we can read it, that would be super helpful. There is some information on taking screenshots if you haven't done this on this page.

  • @SheriGR oh yeah. that's what i received. i am not currently in the game now, so i can't attach the screenshot at the moment. but that is exactly the notifications i keep receiving, thank you. is there any solutions to this? or is it merely a notification that tells me that move objects cheats was used during the building of this lot? and that some items "might" be missing?

@Jazzy92211 Yes, that (below) is the normal notice you see if the builder of the lot had MOO active while placing even one item on the lot. It's actually a hugely helpful update to the game for builders, and for those that like to download lots or rooms from the gallery to be placed in their own game. It serves several purposes:

    • It lets you know that the builder of the lot had MOO active while placing even one item on the lot.
    • It gives you a heads-up that since this was the case, it's possible, if the builder did not sufficiently play test the lot to make sure all items alt-placed or MOO-placed did not interfere with Sims accessing that item or other items in the area, there could be issues in gameplay.
    • This does not mean that MOO is active on your lot after placing the item. MOO will only be active on the lot if you activate it separately.
    • The majority of that notice is explaining how to use MOO if you want to do so in your game, which has nothing to do with the download you just made. It just explains what the cheat is and how to activate it or deactivate it.
    • Therefore, normally the only reason items should be removed when the lot is placed, whether or not the builder used MOO while making the home, should be if the builder used custom content you don't have or packs/content that you don't own. For instance, if I stuck a yoga mat on the living room floor in the home and you don't have the 'Spa Day' pack, the yoga mat will be removed when the lot is placed in your game. If you are seeing an additional notice that says items have been removed, it will be for a reason like this.

The notice doesn't say that items may be missing, it says that they may not be accessible (for the reasons I just stated above). See a larger/legible image of the notice below:

  • @SheriGR thank you so much. i understand better now. so, if there are items still missing, it just means that the builder did not play test the lot before publishing it to the gallery? because i have all packs.

@Jazzy92211 If you have all packs I can't think of items that should be missing, unless there were Custom Content items removed or Debug items that didn't stick since they are not retained (if they are part of an action like a specific cooking action or something along that line).

Tell you what... I also have all packs. Would you be willing to place a recent lot I made? It uses many packs, debug items, and MOO, but it has no custom content or debug items that would be removed because they're part of a game action only. Then could you see if the message you get is any different than the one I posted earlier today?

  • Yeah I have the same problem too where objects arn't showing up. But in may case its all the walls for some builds. Every item from photos on the gallery seems to be there, except the walls, which don't even seem to be custom content or debug. Would you have any advice?

@AimeeRW Can you include a screenshot(s)? Did you double-check that the walls that you want to be up are up in settings? Do you have CC &/or or Mods? Is this happening on only one lot or in all lots? Is the issue there if you start a fresh gamesave?
