@LindyIris10 If you didn't move the mod folder with the mods out, (or didn't disabled the use of mods/scripts in the game's settings), then when you had created a new save, it was still loading the mods, (which would explain why you're having the same error).
1) What mods are you using?2) Is the game letting you play?
3) If you're able to play, is there any issues you can see? (Such as broken buttons, missing textures, Sims acting in unintended ways, etc.)
4) Have you backed up your saves yet?
The game's save files, (and mods), are stored in your documents folder.
If the documents folder is synced with OneDrive, the file path is:
- "C:\Users\<YOUR-USER>\OneDrive\Other\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4"("other" is what my OneDrive calls the documents folder).
If the documents folder is not synced with OneDrive, the file path is:
- "C:\Users\<YOUR-USER>\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4"(I've tested this file path as well, and it also took me to the same folder location on my PC for The Sims 4)
5) When updating the mods, were you using any mod managers to update them? Were any of the mods manually installed? (As in, did you put them into the mods folder yourself?) If you did manually installed any mods, did you download them from the correct sources? (Third party sites could pose issues and they don't always have the most updated version of the mods).
I'm asking the last question about how the mods are being updated and installed because some mods have multiple components. If any components is outdated, then it would throw an error.
Chances are your mods are mostly updated, but its one or more components that are not. If it is one of these components, then that would explain why no mods are being listed as the issue. It would also explain why it says there's a "broken traits mod" in the report, as it wouldn't be the mod itself, but one of its components. These components would be the mod's packages and scripts. If the mod has multiple packages and/or scripts, make sure every part of the mod is being updated. (This is also why I had suggested CurseForge, as CurseForge would update all the mod's components).
Packages are the items, textures, etc. that the mod provides, while scripts is the extra code used to run them.
For example, a mod that adds furniture, (like the Kitchen mod I have installed), would only have packages as the game has the code for sitting in chairs, eating at tables, etc. If the game didn't have the code for such actions, then the scripts would be included to add them.6) If you manually added mods, review your mods folder for any mods that may have any outdated components, and update them.

Ok so I probably explained myself badly: the base game save file works completely fine. I tried using Curseforge but It says that it can't update any mod because I have downloaded them manually. Since sunday I've updated every mod I could, by going to the original sites. Initially the gameplay was also broken, but Tuesday I found out the mod "The one with all the romance" was causing it. I deleted it because it wasn't updated to this patch. Still, the thing that bothers me the most is that I can edit every household I want, except for the one I was playing with (it's the 17th generation I have). I have uploaded to the gallery an old version of it, where one of the children is missing. I looked at the traits and all of them should be working. I even split it in half but I can't edit no matter what I do. Thank you again for your help 🙂

@LindyIris10 Correct, CurseForge will only manage the mods you had downloaded through its mod manager.
In terms of being unable to edit, do you mean you cannot edit the Sims themselves or their household? If you mean you cannot edit the Sims themselves, (such as their traits, (shown below)), unlocking the option to edit that is very easy.To unlock full CAS edit mode:
1) Press Ctrl + Shift + C (this will bring up the cheat console)
2) Type "testingcheats true", (without the quotes)
3) Now type "cas.fulleditmode", (again, without the quotes)4) Hold shift and then click on a Sim, (it can be any Sim)
5) Look for the option bubble that says "Edit in CAS"
After you do that, you'll be taken to the CAS edit menu, where you'll be able to edit any of the Sims in the current household / lot. This full edit mode will allow you to change anything about the Sim as if you were creating the Sim for the first time. (I'm assuming you have empty trait slots, which is why I'm mentioning this).
If its a lot that's unable to be edited, you could try enabling the free building mode cheat, which would be "bb.enablefreebuild" into the cheat console.
When you're done using the cheats, you can just press Ctrl + Shift + C again to close the cheat console. (You don't have to turn off "testingcheats" or anything else. The game seems to do that on its own when the game starts up the next time).- LindyIris102 years agoNew Traveler
Actually, when I click on the edit button to open CAS the loading screen opens a chrome page with be exceptions and the game doesn't load. It goes like this forever (I stayed waiting for about 1 hour and half) and I can't even close the game with alt+f4
- @LindyIris10 Close out the game and try deleting the "localthumbcache.package" file. (I would backup your saves as well).
This file can be found in The Sims 4's folder. Its file path is:
If using OneDrive:
"C:\Users\<YOURUSER>\OneDrive\Other\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\localthumbcache.package"
If not using OneDrive:
"C:\Users\<YOURUSER>\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\localthumbcache.package"
Some players have also reported the same with the CAS after the recent update. I'm not sure if its related to the update, as it sounds like your CAS works for the other households in your game. While for me, my CAS fully works for my Sims. So, this seems to be mod related.
Another thing you can try after you had tried deleting the localthumb file, is to remove all your mods, then load up the household who's Sims you cannot edit, and then try entering the CAS. (Be sure to backup your saves prior to removing the mods).
If the CAS loads just fine, then another mod is causing the issue. If the CAS doesn't load, then you can try repairing the game's files.
If it happens to be another mod causing the issue, you'll have to update or remove that mod. - LindyIris102 years agoNew Traveler
Hello again, I tried to delete the cache file, I did a backup of all of my sims save files, but in the mean time I found a file from MCC last exception, which reports a problem with one of the sims that is in the broken household, you can find it in the photos and also the full error callstack (I made multiple replies because I can't upload more than 3 photos per reply). If you find anything strange please tell me because I'm a little tired after updating mods for an entire week and still not finding the problem with the household. Also this morning I updated my game so now it's on 08/08's patch.

part 3 of screenshots+File withFull error CallStack
@LindyIris10 First off, you could of just uploaded the exception file instead, but no worries.
Secondly, the error I see says, "'NoneType' object has no attribute 'commodity_flags'", then it reffers to "CategoryID: script_object:1302"
In the full stack error, it says:
File 'T:\InGame\Gameplay\Scripts\Server\objects\components\__init__.py', line 202, in __getattr__ [ self : Alexei Sokolov, attr : commodity_flags]
File 'T:\InGame\Gameplay\Scripts\Server\objects\script_object.py', line 1302, in update_commodity_flags [ cls : <class 'sims4.tuning.instances.object_sim'>]
File 'T:\InGame\Gameplay\Scripts\Server\objects\script_object.py', line 1302, in <genexpr> [ .0 : <tuple_iterator object at 0x00007FF467038B10>, flag : <class 'sims4.tuning.instances.staticCommodity_Nanny_FeedBaby'>]Whatever mod you have that adds a nanny seems to be the issue. You can try removing the mod and seeing if the Sims can be edited, (or see if the mod has an update).
A breakdown of the error you're having, is the "update_commodity_flags" is throwing an error in one of the mod's classes. As a result of this error, it also throws the second error in another class. This class is the "Nanny_FeedBaby".
In other words, the Sim, "Alexei Sokolov", has nothing set for their "commodity flags" attribute. This is basically a null error, where the mod isn't able to update the commodity flags for the Sim, as it doesn't exist for them. Judging by the mention of a Nanny commondity, I'm guessing that Alexei is the household's Nanny.- LindyIris102 years agoNew Traveler
Ok so in this household Alexei Sokolov is the father of one of the two kids. But he adopted the other one that isn't his. I don't remember putting any kind of nanny mods, but I can list a few that I have installed that involve services/family/adoption:
Advanced Infant Care by Grumpy
Foster Family by LittleMsSam
Family Life by jellypawss
Lumpinou's RPO (all files except M13)
Zero Cottage's Deliveries
If you know any other mods that could be confliting I can list all of them
@LindyIris10 Re-reading the exception, it does seem like the traits overview was for "Amélie Sokolov". Is this Sim the child Sim? If it is, which one?
As for the mods:
Advanced Infant Care - Maybe, I can't find the mod's website
Foster Family - Most likely the issue, since it the error mentions a Nanny, have you updated the XML Injector mod that it requires to run?
Family Life - Second most likely, again since it the error mentions a Nanny
Lumpinou's RPO - Maybe, I can't find the mod's website
Zero Cottage's Deliveries - I doubt this is the one having the issue
Does any of these mods have babysitting or anything where an adult Sim would take care of a baby/child Sim? I'm not talking about the Foster Family one, because the baby/child Sim should just be added as a household family member, and thus shouldn't cause an error involving a Nanny, (although the game has a built-in Nanny feature, (even though its awful). When I used it, the Nanny either wouldn't show up, or the game would take away the child anyways).
Another possible solution is to reset the Sim, which would be opening up the cheat console, (Ctrl+ Shift + C), and then typing in "reset firstname lastname". I would do this for each of the Sims in the household.
Example resets, (without the quotes):
- "resetSim Alexei Sokolov"
- "resetSim Amélie Sokolov"
- "resetSim *" (every Sim in the current game)
"What does resetting do?"
> "Resetting your Sim will return them to a playable state but the Sim won't return to their home lot and their needs will remain the same. This works for all Sims, not just the ones you are controlling, except in cases of “Sim not found.”"> It shouldn't reset the Sim's relationships, skills, or anything like, but hopefully it would resolve the issue you're having.

Amélie Sokolov is the mother, while Alexei is her husband. First she had a child (Edward, currently a toddler) with another man and then she had a child with Alexei (Davis, an infant). When the first child was born, I clicked on him so that Alexei was considered his ''cure assistant'' (I'm italian I don't know how this translates correctly into English). I will try to delete the Family Life mod, since it's a lot the creator updated it, and secondly I will try to reset them.
- @LindyIris10 Try resetting them first. I did mistype the reset command, its "resetSim first last", not "reset first last".

Don't worry, I read the instructions of the article you sent me earlier. I'm currently opening the gameplay.

YESS IT WORKS! Thank you so much for all of the work you've done this days, I couldn't do it in a million years without your help. Now I still get a better exception tab on google because it's still searching for that broken trait mod, but now I think after all of this the Family Life wasn't working and was causing the exception. Later when it finishes (it will take at least 10 min I think) I will inform you, but the important thing is that now CAS for this household works.
- @LindyIris10 That's awesome!
If its still throwing an error about a trait, you can also try removing the trait from the Sim. It should be as easy as having the Sim as the active Sim, and then typing "traits.remove_trait <trait>" into the cheat console. - LindyIris102 years agoNew Traveler
Ok if I find it I could use this command. However it will take a while to find it because recently my File explorer has decided to not search for files with specific names (when I type ''trait'' or only the first letters it doesn't find anything haha).
- @LindyIris10 Oh it wouldn't exactly be in the files, its whatever the mod uses to reffer to the trait.
For example, the trait "evil" should be "trait_evil". Since its a Sims 4 trait, its naming scheme is usually "trait_<name>".
I will say finding the name of the trait could be a real pain, but I'm hoping its simply "commodity_flags", although that's a weird name for a trait.
Sadly the commands for traits are: "traits.equip_trait <trait>" and "traits.remove_trait <trait>", I wish it had a list traits command. You might be able to find it in one of the exception or log files.
Meanwhile, if you wish to still use "Family Life", you could try readding it back, but if the game bugs, then you'll know its indeed the issue. (Which is why I said to try resetting first). Also backup your save before trying to readd the mod and try rebooting the game at least once prior to adding the mod back to see if the Sim would bug out again. (I'm mainly trying to make sure we've solved the issue and didn't just treat the symptom of the issue).
Its also possible that the reason why you still see the broken traits error is either because you've loaded the same exception file from the last time, or it was indeed another mod causing the issue.
Its most likely another mod causing the issue and the problem your Sims had was that it just bugged out between last time they were fine and after the game first updated. - @LindyIris10 Is everything resolved now, or did the Sim find a way to break again? (Because they do randomly bug out, because why not?)
- LindyIris102 years agoNew Traveler
Apparently everything works now, except for the Better Exceptions Chrome tab still openining and some of the outfits not showing and the bugged names (photos). Also the time seems to freeze and my Sims can't interact with other sims or objects.
@LindyIris10 Better Exceptions is honestly a mod that I've used and then uninstalled because it did the same thing for me when it kept detecting issues. However, if its still telling you there's an issue, then one of your other mods may still be glitching out.
As for some outfits not showing, I'm not sure what's suppose to show up, but if the issue is with the child, it might be due to those outfits not being tagged with "Maschile", (Masculin) and/or "Clima Freddo", (Cold Weather). But, if its the pants the child is wearing, (where one pants leg is white), it might not be showing correctly due to the pants overriding another piece of clothing. If its with the adult Sim, I don't know what they're suppose to be wearing, so to me, nothing is missing.
As for the bugged names, I see for the child and the first Sim selected, CAS is referring to them both as "Davis Sokolov". When you're in the actual household, do both Sims have the same name when you hover over them or over their icons in the bottom left of the screen? If they do, try changing their names back to how they should be. (This will require you to turn on the testing cheats command and then to use the full edit CAS command). If their names are different, (and correct), then its most likely a mod causing the issue.
Lastly, the time. When the game is paused, as you know the Sims aren't moving, time isn't moving, everything is at a standstill. From what it sounds like, the game is "paused", but the Sims aren't affected by the pause, only the objects they can interact with. This sounds like an issue with a mod. You could try following these steps: https://answers.ea.com/t5/PC/Game-stuck-in-pause/m-p/9282488/highlight/true#M182580 you can also try repairing the game files. (It might start resuming if you click on the speed of time buttons a few times).
If the issue is only happening with the one household and not any other, then its definitely a mod causing the issue. Its possible that something in the household, (might be a Sim or a piece of furniture), is throwing an error. I've had my game pause like that before when a mod had a bugged out piece of furniture and it didn't let me resume the game until the mod was gone.
Check around your sim's house. Is anything missing, not properly textured, or otherwise not correct? If there is anything like that, then it should be the associated mod. Also read the error log generated by Better Exceptions, is there anything in the error log pointing to what may be causing the issue? Based on the previous log reports it generated, I think its one of the mods. (It may be the mod that adds more to the time menu. I see you have a season icon, temps, month, etc).- LindyIris102 years agoNew Traveler
Hi there, the problem is still here. Everything works on every other household (build, live and cas mode), except for this one. Should I send you another be exceptions report? or something like that? (in meanwhile I re-added some files that you can find in the photo, but apparently even if the creators said that these mods work, I think they're conflicting with the broken one)
- @LindyIris10 Yes, another Better Exceptions report could help me figure out what's going on.
While yes, mods can conflict with each other, (even when they're not broken). I see in the screenshot that the mods are stored in a folder called "boh", is that the mods folder? If not, I wonder if the mods would work better if they're placed in a folder labled "mods"
Another thing you could try is to move the Sims into another house. I say this because if they suddenly start working, then its something in the current house that's causing the issue, (which would most likely be due to a mod erroring out). If the other house bugs out in the same way, then its more likely the Sims themselves, (especially if you moved a Sim from another house into the broken house with just them living there, and there's no errors). - LindyIris102 years agoNew Traveler
Here I put every exceptions file I could find.
I only made a separate folder to show you the mods that I think were conflicting with traits. Tomorrow I will try to move out the household, I hope that works
