Hi. I’ve tried all of that stuff and it still didn’t work sadly.
- @oreosimmer01 Try moving your entire "The sims 4" folder out of your my documents and relaunching (enable mods), then exit and move over the save files to the newly generated Sims 4 folde. Does that help in reloading the save? If that works, move in your mod(s) and see if it still works.
Ok I tried it and it didn’t work.
- @oreosimmer01 So it didn't let you go into your save either or it didn't work after moving your mods back in? (Also, did you move the entire mods folder or just the mods, I'd suggest doing just the mods)
No it let me go into my save but I don’t want to play it without my cc and mods. I moved the entire EA and mods folder to the desktop and started with a new folder. Then I added back one mod that is updated and it still wouldn’t let me enable mods or cc. It doesn’t even show up in game.
- @oreosimmer01 okay, but in doing so, did you also replace the mods folder? There is a config file in there and if you overwrote it with the old one again, it might be the one causing you the 'enable' issues. (Also, if that's not it, try another one of your mods, just to check, and leave the updated one out?)
No I didn’t replace it. I haven’t played my game in 3 days I am so sad. Are other people experiencing this bug?
I also tried another one of my mods and still no luck. 😞
- @oreosimmer01 I've encountered many people with some variant of this issue. However, when the toggle does not work, there's a way to fix it and when the toggle works, but the mods don't, like you're experiencing, this method usually works (removing the sims 4 folder, relaunching, toggling mods on, then replacing the save files, tray folder and moving the mods in the new mods folder).
Do me a favor and confirm that the mods are in fact .package and/or .ts4script files?
I'm thinking what else it might be, but since you've also added your ea app/origin and the sims 4 game as exceptions to your antivirus, I'm running out of ideas. You've probably also tried running the game as administrator? Yes they are package/script files. How do I run as administrator on a Mac and when I do run as administrator what do I do?
- @oreosimmer01 Oh it's a Mac... I think it's called 'enable root access' on Mac, but from what I've read, I wouldn't recommend it. Sounds like it's more elaborate and risky than just administrator access on windows ☹️
Oh ok. What should I do now? I’ve contacted EA again and they haven’t gotten back to me yet.
- @oreosimmer01 I really don't know... Do you use icloud? If you do, there's a chance the game is loading from the cloud, but then it was unlikely that removing your mods folder restored the save file... I'm sorry, I am out of ideas ☹️
Yes I use iCloud. Should I turn it off? Cause I load my entire game from my external storage drive.
- @oreosimmer01 Loading the game from the external drive is not the user data folder though 😉 it's just the game files and that's fine.
Try disabling icloud, following the renew folder steps in your documents folder again and see if it helps. Can't hurt. Ok I disabled iCloud and I started up my game and the save files I have are not showing up. What should I do?
@oreosimmer01 Please post screenshots of the saves and Mods folders, as in, I want to see the contents of each folder. If you don't see your saves, check iCloud Drive and let me know whether you find your saves there.
For the saves and Mods folders that DO contain the proper files, please also right-click on the folders and select Get Info, then look for the file paths under Where. List those file paths along with the screenshots. You can write [username] instead of your actual username if you want, but please leave the rest of the file paths intact.
My mods folder has 30,000 items so it would be hard to screenshot every single one. I can try the other stuff tomorrow though.
I see my saves in the saves folder. I run sims 4 off of my external storage on my Mac.
@oreosimmer01 I don't need to see everything, just a sampling. But at the moment, it would be best to troubleshoot with only one or two mods or cc items, ones that are explicitly confirmed compatible (by the developer) with patch 1.93. You can add back the rest of your content later, once you have the initial files showing up.
So for now, please move the rest of the files elsewhere.
Please also go in-game and find the full path to your user folder, as described in this article:
https://sims4.crinrict.com/eng/2018/07/how-to-find-your-user-folder/
And list that file path for me as well, just to cover all the bases.
Hi. So I don't know if I mentioned this before but my sims 4 saves are not showing up in game. They are in the right folder and I also did what you said yesterday so I have some screenshots of my mods folder, my saves folder, and my in game screenshots.
Also it won't let me upload 2 of my screenshots due to the files being too large.
@oreosimmer01 Use cmd-shift-4 and drag your cursor over the section of screen you want to capture rather than capturing the entire screen. If the screenshots are still too large to upload, open them in Preview, click Tools > Adjust Size, and reduce the Resolution value by half, e.g. change 144 to 72.
And again, please post the exact file paths to the saves and Mods folders just to be thorough. You've already spent a lot of time on this; I don't want to make any suggestions that aren't relevant.
My computer is at a repair shop now. I will have to let you know when I get it back.
Same kind of a real deal breaker for me, my cats and dogs expansion isn't working either. This will be fixed soon... I hope. EA really dropped the ball forcing the app on windows users before it was functional not cool EA.
