Re: New scenario deleted all my households, The Sims 4

Hi @puzzlezaddict, I'm having the same issue as @Booruvka. I created a scenario the day of or shortly after it launched and when I went back to play an older household, all of my saved games were gone. I had put so much work and time into them, and was so frustrated that they had disappeared, so I stopped playing Sims for almost two months.

I thought I would start up again but want my old households back.

I read your commentary and I see that I have some older saved games prior to the scenario launch in my "saves" folder and I also had some show in the "This PC". But I am not sure exactly how to convert them over to bring make them playable again, so was wondering if you had any step by steps!

Thanks for your help.

@FizzyNutria06  There are a few different approaches, but the one that feels simplest to me is to make a new saves folder and start copying over the old saves.  Move the existing saves folder to the desktop, launch the game to create a new folder, and copy one of the old saves, whichever one looks promising (by date).  Make sure it's labeled properly, as in Slot_[eight-digit hexidecimal number].save , without any extra characters or spaces.  For example, these are all legitimate save names:

    Slot_00000002.save

    Slot_0000000a.save

    Slot_00000126.save

You can rename a save file once it's in the new folder, and the game will read it as long as it's in the proper format.  Once you've sorted through your old saves, it's still a good idea to make a backup copy of the old saves folder, in case you need it later, but you can put it aside rather than adding the rest of the files to the new folder.

Hi!  Wondering if I can jump on for help!  Been playing since Sims 1 and currently using Sims 4 with all add on packs.

My current world was my most played and I’ve spent hundreds of hours modifying my house, upgrading all of the household items, playing/forming relationships with other households, etc.

i (stupidly) decided to try a scenario today and picked a random household to use. I didn’t realize that it was adding it to my current world and I then deleted it. Imagine my surprise when my world was gone. I feel like a complete idiot and I’m crushed. At this point, I don’t even want to play anymore. Am I out of luck or is there a way to recover a file from somewhere?  I’m on a Mac. Thanks so much!!!

Simply click the load game button and select your previous game from there. When you start a new game all the worlds are reset to their starting point.

  • The game isn’t actually there. It’s reverted to a previous game I had been playing in the past. When I hit load, the world/household isn’t there. Guessing it’s just gone for good?

If you did delete that game then it may be lost but try to use recover game to see if there is a backup of an older version of it. The game makes several backups.
