@kaylaasmiles7 The answer after a patch can be very different from the answer before. Start at the new Broken/Updated Mods & CC lists (there will be more updates to that this evening)

I'm having the same issue now after the update yesterday (7-23-24). None of the traits are showing up, I can't select any traits or randomize the traits. I've removed my mods folder and also cleared the cache. It's still not fixed after doing this. I'm super frustrated with this, it totally affects the whole game play. Any help would be appreciated! I took a screenshot of what's going on.
This is exactly what mine looks like as well! Please let me know if you find a solution and I’ll do the same <3
- @luthienrising I do not have any mods or cc installed in game, so it won’t be solved with that list unfortunately

Okay sounds good! Thank you! I sure hope they get this fixed!
@kaylaasmiles7 You also didn't remove them before this? Does it occur in a new save? Have you done any other troubleshooting, like a game repair or new user folder?
- @luthienrising I’ve done game repair, could you explain what a new user folder is? Thanks so much for helping

The traits won't show up for pets either! I attached a screenshot of this bug too.
@kaylaasmiles7 @leuerk Could both of you please do this "clean" user folder test?
- Drag (not copy) your whole The Sims 4 folder from Document > Electronic Arts to your desktop, or rename it
- Launch Sims 4. It will behave as if you've never played.
- Start with New to test if your issue recurs in a new game.
If it does not behave as if you've never played -- if it shows that you've got saves, for example, please let us know.

That worked! The traits are showing. Why is it that this in particular fixed it?
- @luthienrising This worked for me! Thanks so much for your help. Does this mean all my old saves are gone or should I move anything from the old Sims 4 folder to the new one?
@kaylaasmiles7 @leuerk Okay! So now we know you have one of three issues
- something in a save is broken
- something in your Maxis user-folder files had corrupted
- a previously undetected mod problem
Let's hope it's the 2nd one!
The next thing to do is to copy a save file back into the new Saves folder and test it. You can also copy back the file called UserSettings.ini (this is where your Rewards from last month's event are), and you can reset your Game Options.
Let me know if an old save now works!
I tried this and it did not work for me I have still having the same issue.
I'm having the same problem but that did not work for me
@Fili9521 If you can recreate this with no mods and no cc in a new save, please post to Bug Reports
Hi there,
I had mods and cc in my game prior to the update and latest patch. Unfortunately I didn’t remove mods/cc before downloading update. I have struggled with this same bug ever since.
I have now completely removed mods/cc from mods and tray folder. Deleted local thumb cache multiple times. Moved my sims 4 folder onto desktop and tried out with completely fresh game. Tried repair game option multiple times. Still this bug persists. Is there any other options to try now?
@bap11114444 Please post to Bug Reports. Include details about how you've tested.
Hi So I was having this problem and did the new game, moving the Sims 4 folder method and when I reopened with the saves folder in there I had the same traits issue, when I did only mods I was fine. How would I clean out the saves section?
@luthienrisingHi, I've tried this with total vanilla but still can't get it to work ☹️
Edit: Also having problems with moving previous saves into this new game. Right now I've just been dragging the save file into the new save folder, but nothing is changing and the game is still performing as though I've never played before.
@milkbreadstack If it doesn't work fo ryou vanilla in a new save, please head to Bug Reports: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Mods-CC-Issues/Traits-Panel-Not-Appearing/m-p/13899154
The game will behave like new when you make a new user folder. This is good - it means you didn't have a duplicate user folder you were changing instead. You can put files back in the new user folder, and they'll show up in game. If you exited, put a save file back, and can't find it when you select "Load", head to Tech Support.
I had the same problem so I removed my 'The Sims 4' folder onto my desktop and started up a new game but it is still happening. What should I do now?
@stvrgirlexe Do the trait spots you click on also disappear? If so, there's a Bug Report on that: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/OPEN-Unable-to-select-traits-in-CAS/m-p/13907533#M284860
I did, thank you for your help!

I don't have any mods, and I did everything you told us to, but I still can't see the traits panel ☹️ Please help!!!!
- @shishi2502 If you have this issue with an empty Mods folder after deleting localthumbcache, it might be this: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/NEEDS-SAVES-Unable-to-select-traits-in-CAS/m-p/13898994
