San Myshuno crashes game

Hello!
After July updates - I cannot load the family I was playing in San Myshuno. Which is a bummer because I've spent a lot of time on it - and the robots that hate each other after a messy break up -- well they just crack me up.
I have done all the add/remove mods 50/50 no mods etc - tried to load prior version etc etc.

I started playing on a new save to play around -- that game ALSO crashes San Myshuno. It shouldn't! This is an interesting anomaly. AND the upload here is crash with ALL mods removed.

This doesn't seem to be a mods issue EA! PLEASE HALP! I want to get my outhouses and such.

So hopefully there is hope in one day loading the family I was playing before. I've never experienced an issue to this degree - that's what I get for getting excited about fairies and updating on time vs months later Q_Q (very ugly cry)

I found another post and they were able to fix their game. Turns out it was GShade.
I hadn't been using Gshade very long and I didn't even think of it as a mod - as soon as I removed it -- things are working fine now. THANK YOU so much for your time and help. I am going to be catching up on my crazy robot fam tonight XD

  • I’m experiencing an issue where the entire Uptown district in San Myshuno crashes my game whenever I try to enter any of the lots. At first, I thought it might be a corrupted save, so I removed all mods and CC, cleared the cache, and repaired the game. When that didn’t solve it, I uninstalled the game completely, deleted The Sims 4 folder in my Documents (after backing up my Tray, Saves, and Mods), reinstalled the game, and tested everything on a new save file without importing anything. That process actually fixed the issue a few months ago, and I was able to access the broken lots again but now, after repeating the exact same steps, the issue has returned and won’t go away. Even in a fresh save with no content added and no mods enabled, Uptown immediately causes my game to crash or get stuck in an infinite loading screen. I also tried bulldozing and evicting the lots before entering them, but nothing helps. This is not limited to one save file. I’ve tested across multiple new saves, clean installs, and completely mod free setups and nothing.

    Hi asummerswhim

unfortunately those files are private. Could you make them public ?

Did you already put your save back and see if it works there ?

You can now start to copy back things from Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4_Old to the new Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 folder that was created.

First only copy (I suggest to copy so you can go back in case anything goes wrong along the way) the content of the folder Saves (these are your save games). If you are prompted if want to overwrite a save, decide if you want to keep that testing save you just made or not. If not, just overwrite if, if you want to keep it, rename the save to a different number that isn't taken.

Test just your save game with nothing else added back. If that works, you can start copying back the rest. If not, check back.

You will need the following folders

    - Tray (your households and lots you have saved to library)- Custom Music (if you added any)
    - Screenshots (if you've taken any)
    - Videos (if you've taken any)
    - ConfigOverride (if you made any although I recommend redoing those)
    - Options(.ini) (although I recommend to just redo your settings in the game)

Now test again. If that still works, you can put back your mods. Put them back in groups and make sure they are still compatible with the game.

All other files are recreated and not needed.

OK! Well that allows me to load San Myshuno! So this must mean perhaps something didn't update right? Theoretically my game should work with all mods removed on previous save yes? How interesting.

Hello! OK I will paste crash files to the comments  - if that doesn't work I'll figure out how to link them from google. I run Sims on PC.
I will troubleshoot this now -- it'll be a while for repair to run I think since I have pretty much all the big packs. Ty for your help!

  • You can't upload crash files. You need to either copy/paste or upload to a file sharing site and link.

Are you on PC or Mac ?

    Try the following

    - Close the game
    - Rename Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 to Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4_Old
    - Repair the game
    - Start the game. All your content will be gone now as the game created a new folder. All your saves/.. is still in the old folder so not to worry.
    - Start a new save game
    - Check if you still have the error
    - Report back with your results for further steps on how to get your stuff back.
