sims 4 custom content isn't working at all

I've tried "enable custom content" button, restarting the game, removing all my custom content out of the game. I tried deleting the mods folder creating a new one and dragging all the mods in it. I've also tried deleting all the recent mods i downloaded. But, nothing has been working. I'm not sure what to do. I guess I can no longer play Sims 4 anymore. PLEASE HELP!!!

(P.S. ALL my sims look like a clown, red and white skin no matter if the skin tone came along with the game or if its a custom content also they always have a white question mark on their forehead. Also I have version 1.60.54.1020 Sims 4 game. I have the base sims 4, university, island living, season, cats and dogs, city living and get to work expansion packs.)

  • @michelleg95  For the weird looking sims, try repairing the game in Origin: open your game library, right-click on the Sims 4 icon, and select Repair.

For the mods issue, have you enabled script mods too?  (Just checking.)  If that's not the issue, try removing options.ini from Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4.  You'll need to redo all your in-game settings, but if the old file was corrupt, it would explain why it wasn't saving the option to  enable custom content.

If that doesn't work, please move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents\Electronic Arts, launch the game to create a clean folder, enable cc and mods, quit, download just one mod that's listed as fully updated for patch 1.60 on its download page, and add it to the new folder.  If it works, you can continue adding mods to that folder; be sure to keep testing them.  Once you're satisfied everything is working normally, you can move the contents of your Saves and Tray folders from the old Sims 4 folder to the new one.

When you say remove the optionn.ini thingy does that mean delete or we remove it from the file then put it back?

Hi @LexiV01 Try making a clean folder:

Exit Sims 4 then drag your whole Sims 4 folder from Document > Electronic Arts to your desktop.

Launch Sims 4 and reset your Options.

Exit and copy only the contents of your old Saves, Tray, and Mods folder into the new folders, but not your old resoure.cfg -- you don't want to overwrite anything the game made new.

Hi, I’m having the exact same issue as you were.

Are you saying you removed all of your mods, then slowly added them back, bit by bit, and that worked?

@swannp0303 That's a way to identify broken mods/CC, not to make broken content work. What issue is it exactly that you're having? There are many ways CC might be not working.

@anjie2sworld A solution in May for someone else won't necessarily be the solution you need after the most recent patch and in your system.

See Mod/CC Issues master post for some common issues. If you still need support after that, a new thread with details would be helpful.
