All of my Sims 4 progress is gone

I just updated my game and it got rid of all the progress I made with my legacy challenge. I would like to know if there is a way to get my progress back or if I need to re play everything?

Do you mean your save file was deleted? 

If so, I'm afraid those save files aren't able to be restored as they are stored locally on your console. Once a save has been deleted or overwritten, you're not able to restore it and would need to continue playing on a new save file instead.
