[PS4/XB1] Long Loading Times Entering The Game

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:Microsoft XBOX One
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? Version 1.27 (6/10/2020 Patch)
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Get Famous, Seasons, City Living, Get Together, Get To Work, Realm Of Magic, StrangerVille, Jungle Adventure, Vampires, Dine Out, Spa Day, Bowling Night, Vintage Glamour, Movie Hangout, Spooky Stuff, Cool Kitchen, Perfect Patio, Luxury Party.
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Load up the game on an Xbox One console. Wait for "The Sims 4" screen and select the gamer-tag so it starts to load in.
What happens when the bug occurs? Gets stuck on "The Sims 4" loading screen for a long time until it transitions into the blue screen..
What do you expect to see? Not really sure. Maybe the loading time is normal because of all the packs I have installed. I doesn't load in as quick as it used too.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? On console - never used.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure

This could be just me, but I've tried a hard reset on the console and clearing a bunch of space out. It stays on the loading screen for awhile now. At least 4-5 minutes. Not sure if this is normal or just me.

I have always had problems with the sims game on ps4 for slowdowns or freezes.
While playing the game many many times it goes has jerks, preventing me from playing the game. especially when you change scenery or move with the sims it takes a very long time has load ... even while I turn on the game ho save, it takes about 15 minutes to load the game and 5 minutes to save. I only have these problems with this game. the ps4 and the game are always up to date and I have always done ps4 wipe, cache etc. I have never downloaded mods. But having downloaded paid expansions (expansion pack staff pach etc). I noticed that these slowdowns were getting more and more frequent, and without any error code coming out I get game freezes. In the sense that it freezes the sims stay still without performing any action anymore. And many times I have to restart them more than once the action, but it cancels itself without them having performed it. Or even if I click anything around the scenario it won't let me click anything anymore and I have to necessarily turn it off and on again ... save, I manage to save because it's not that it freezes from not being able to save but it freezes because I can't do anything anymore as the game time goes by.

  • @eternalrainn 2023 now, this post was made in 2020... and the problem still isn't fixed yet. It's making me want to not play the game due to the long loading screen.

Just out of curiosity, has anyone had their game unpause while loading into the game? (Going from Worldview map onto a played household lot, with the long loading screen etc.)
I had this happen since I started playing again recently, and I'm somewhat used to the long loading screens, but having the game go on in the background is a bit annoying.
I might make a support ticket just in case its a prevalent issue/ and/or a totally different issue in general.

@DudeNamedWillare you pressing the Play button on your Home Screen? It's more likely to do that if you use that option. Instead, try going to your saves menu and selecting Load. I find that's better for avoiding it unpausing and starting off on it's own.

That's the only time it's happening to me anyway.

To try and help the long loading screens and any lagging, check your Sim total in Game Options to make sure you're not near or over the limit for your maximum Sims recommended. You can move Sims to Other Households and free up space. Check your library isn't extremely full and trim it down if it is and do the same with Other Households townies/NPCs. Clearing Library content that arrives with updates and new content can help if it's not needed in your game. When I save a room to the Gallery for example, I delete my Library copy. I keep my Other Households under about 100 or my game becomes slow and unstable. I delete NPCs from OH about once a week. Importantly, always clear personal and household inventories before switching households. This includes emptying fridges too. Carrying multiple inventories can really slow down your game.

    Hope this helps!

  • 8th generation consoles are deliberately being throttled to try to get you to buy 9th generation. Even though Sims 4 is not optimized for 9th Gen, it still loads 10-20 minutes faster (ie, 2 minutes vs 12-20 minutes).

You can ***sometimes*** load less than 10 minutes on xbox one, but you have to jump through many hoops that may or may not work. My experience with xbox one (and I assume pS4) shows that they want you to abandon Gen8.
