Hi, thanks for your response.
I checked Settings > System > System Software > Error History, and there are no error codes related to The Sims 4 2.14 update. Though, before the update, my game would crash and I'd get error code: CE-108255-1 frequently as well.
The issue is that this specific update won’t finish downloading — it either gets stuck at “Preparing to download” or freezes without any progress at a random, fluctuating, percentage (I would leave the console in rest mode for days so it could download and it wouldn't). Other game and app updates on my PS5 are downloading, so the issue seems specific to this patch.
I’m using the disc-based Bundle Edition of The Sims 4 (base game + expansion packs included on the disc), and I’ve seen that others with this version are experiencing similar problems with the 2.14 update.
Here’s what I’ve already tried:
– Canceling and retrying the update
– Rebuilding the database in Safe Mode
– Clearing the system software cache
– Changing DNS (Google and Cloudflare)
– Connecting via mobile hotspot and different networks
– Verifying if other updates download (they do completely fine).
No errors pop up, but this specific update refuses to process, and I suspect it may be related to the bundle disc configuration. Is this a known issue with 2.14 and disc versions, or is there a workaround?
Thanks again for the support.
Thanks for the details on this! That error typically indicates corrupt data, so let's try the following:
Make sure your console system software is up to date.
- Select Settings at the top of the PlayStation home screen.
- Choose "System Software Update" and allow any system updates to install.
- Reboot your PlayStation.
Uninstall and Reinstall the game:
- Go to Settings > Application Saved Data Management > Saved Data in System Storage > Delete.
- Select a game or application.
- Set check marks beside the data you wish to delete or Select All.
- Select Delete > then OK to confirm your decision.
Let me know if you're still having issues with your update then please!

Thanks for the follow-up.
I want to be clear that I don’t want to lose my save data, and I currently don’t have a way to back it up (no PS+ and no USB storage access). So I’m not comfortable deleting the game and risking my progress.
Also, for context, I was already experiencing frequent crashes with error code CE-108255-1 before the 2.14 update was even announced. That suggests this may be a deeper issue related to the bundle disc version and not something new I introduced on my end.
I’ve already tried a long list of troubleshooting steps:
– Rebuilding the database
– Clearing the system software cache
– Changing DNS
– Trying different networks and connections
– Canceling/restarting the update
– Confirming that other games and updates download fine
Still, the 2.14 update for The Sims 4 won’t download — it gets stuck at 0% or "preparing to download" and never progresses, even in Rest Mode.
I really don’t think I should have to go to extreme lengths or risk losing my saves to fix a problem that seems to be part of a wider issue with this patch on certain physical editions.
I paid for this game and its content, and it’s now unplayable because of something I can’t fix on my own. Is there a safer workaround — or can this be escalated to someone who can address patch compatibility issues more directly?

Hi again — just following up since I haven’t heard back.
I’d appreciate any update on this issue. If there's no current fix, can you at least confirm whether this is being investigated and whether a patch is planned?
I don’t want to lose my progress or reinstall blindly, and this issue is clearly affecting other players using the bundle disc version on PS5.
Please let me know if this can be escalated or if there’s someone else I can speak with.

We've not received other reports of an issue downloading the updates- the error code you're seeing indicates game data corruption, which is stored locally to your console.
If the data is corrupt, you would need to delete it from your console and reinstall the game. Corrupt game data cannot be recovered, it would need to be removed in order to start a fresh save file and continue playing.
If you're willing to uninstall and reinstall, please let me know how this works for you.

Hi, thanks for the response.
I want to clarify that this issue isn’t just about corrupted save data.
I’ve already fully uninstalled and reinstalled the game multiple times. I’ve also:
Rebuilt my PS5 database
Changed DNS settings
Power cycled the console
Attempted to redownload the game and updates from scratch
None of these steps have resolved the issue.
While I did receive error CE-108255-1 in the past, that was before updates 2.14 and 2.15. At that time, rebuilding the database solved the issue, and the game worked perfectly fine afterward. I’m only citing that error now as part of the broader issues I’ve faced with this title. (I was doing the Enchanted by Nature award event literally a few days ago and everything was perfect).
The problem now is that the game and its updates will not download at all, and I cannot access any of the packs I’ve purchased, which are tied to this disc version. This problem started only after the most recent updates, and it’s rendered the game completely unplayable.
The disc is clean and undamaged. My PS5 functions properly, and it's new, and all other games and updates download without any issues.
At this point, I’m asking if it’s possible to:
Regain access to my game and packs, or
transfer my packs to a digital license so I can continue playing, since the disc version no longer works on my system (or it may have underlying compatibility issues).
I can provide proof of purchase or a full list of my packs if needed. I’ve invested a lot into this game and its content and would appreciate any help resolving this.
Please escalate this if necessary. Thank you for your time.
