Unable to have a Science Baby

I’ve tried to ‘Have science baby with…’ a few times now and each time the sim leaves the lot and I get the message stating a newborn is joining the household, but after pressing ok my sim will return to the lot and not have a baby.

I noticed a similar issue for me this morning. For me, the option wouldn't even come up 90% of the time. I tried multiple different households, and out of 8 households over 90 minutes of gameplay, it only came up for 2 of the 8 households.
