Certain parts of screen (mostly buttons) black and unreadable

About a week ago my sims started having a black background screen (can still see the plumbob and the words underneath) when loading (not really an issue). The main issue making the game hard to play ...

running antivirus
have tried to repair

    Thanks. Current version of Monterey is 12.3. Could you please update via System Preferences and see if that makes a difference?
