Downloading and expansion pack off Amazon
So I bought the downloadable Roaring Heights expansion pack. On my mac laptop already, I have five other expansion packs, all of which were downloaded by disk.

Roaring Heights is a world for The Sims 3, not an expansion pack. That's why you can't see a logo in the bottom of the launcher. You can check if it is installed going to the "Installed content" tab in the launcher 😉
