If you move the actual Sims 4 files (found under Applications), the game will not start and you will have to reinstall. The only Sims 4 folder you should move is the one found under Documents. Do not move the Electronic Arts folder, just the Sims 4 folder.
Try uninstalling Origin and Sims 4 one more time. Make sure that all Origin files are trashed and clear before reinstalling. Here is how to find where they are located and make sure that no residual Origin files or Sims 4 file remain when you do your next install.
- Make sure you are in Finder then click Go in the menu bar. Hold down Alt and the hidden Library folder will show up. Click on the Library folder.
- You now need to check in the following folders for any Origin files and folders:
Application Support (Origin)
Caches (Origin, com.ea.Origin)
Preferences (com.ea.Origin.plist)
Saved Application state (com.ea.Origin.savedState)
After you've trashed them, empty the trash then restart your Mac. Then redownload and reinstall Origin.
Open a Finder window and click on your Macintosh HD in the left hand section under Devices (if it's not there click on Finder in the menu bar then Preferences. Select the Sidebar tab and make sure Hard Disks is ticked under Devices), open Library, then delete the Origin folder.
Open Disk Utility and Repair Permissions - Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility
Then restart, then redownload Origin and try. Make sure you don't have anything else open.
It works (for) now! Thank you so much for your help!!

How did you come to this solution? Do you have any idea why it might have helped? Anything you can tell me about this solution would be REALLY interesting. (Plus, also, I'd encourage you not to do it and to try the language-changing-dance above just to be sure 🙂 )
- 6 years ago@dzm06 I found something online on an Apple related website that this fixed an issue about updating to MacOS Mojave, so I figured I’d give it a try. I believe it is similar to a solution I found for Windows when a security check program blocked Origin for some reason. I will try the language change thing next time I play and will come back to you! 🙂
- 6 years ago@lehoeven Fantastic! Though honestly I'm still really curious why disabling SIP helped. That's ... odd.
I believe a better workaround has also been provided here: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues-Mac/Re-Sims-4-Initialization-error-at-startup-Legacy-Edition/m-p/8431767#M23545 if you'd like to play in your preferred language again.
