Game Completely Frozen

Hi – I've been a Sims 4 player on my Mac for many years, and I've never had this issue before. Hoping someone can help.

Every time I load into my household from the main Sims 4 page, I can play the game for a few seconds before it completely freezes. There's nothing I can do but force quit the game at that point. This has happened over and over. I've removed my mods folder, disabled mods from my game, restarted my laptop, did a repair through the EA app and even messed around in the Sims 4 folder on my laptop and nothing is helping.

The first time this happened was when I was trying to move one of my Sims out of the existing household into a college dorm. It froze in the process of moving. After force quitting and loading back in, I got her moved out, but in the dorm the problem persists. 

I'm playing in a very old save file – at least four years old, huge, 25+ generations in, if the size means anything. All that to say, I really don't want to lose this save either.

I'm attaching photos of my Sims 4 folder. I removed some things I didn't think were necessary but ended up adding them all back when it got me nowhere. Any help is appreciated!
