Game keeps crashing on loading screen (macOS)
Okay so, I have seen a lot of posts about this problem, but I've not found any solid answers as of yet.
ive been playing the sims 4 for like, ages. recently I did a big CC download, and after that my sims just killed itself. it would make it to the first loading scene and then just crash. I thought originally it was something to do with my mods, but when I moved the folder to my desktop, the game still crashed.
I eventually found a method that worked. I just renamed my sims 4 folder and rebooted the game. when I moved my saves, mods, tray items and custom music back into the folder, it worked fine until I restarted the game again, and It crashed. it was annoying, but I renamed the file again, and rebooted the game but this time, the whole game just stopped responding about 30 secs into gameplay. I retried moving the mods folder out of Electronic Arts and repairing the game, but it was fruitless. help anyone?
problem with linking crash txt file so here: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><report><version>2</version><sessionid>894dae016c91465060298537</sessionid><type>crash</type><sku>ea.maxis.sims4.15.mac</sku><createtime>2021-02-14 20:17:56</createtime><buildsignature>Local.Unknown.Unknown.1.70.84.1220-1.200.000.485.Release</buildsignature><systemconfig></systemconfig><categoryid> 0x1769</categoryid><stack> 0x1769 0xdbd3c9 0xf1d61f 0x1f5cee 0x5e65 0x183b</stack><threads></threads><screenshot></screenshot><memdump></memdump><contextdata>Client Session Time: 61.54<br />Num Save Errors: 0<br />Num Load Errors: 0<br />Current Game State: 0xdd4141d5<br />Origin Version: 10,5,92,46430<br />Modded: False<br />SystemInfo: Mac OS X Version 10.15.2 (Build 19C57) GPU: Intel HD Graphics 5000 macOS Metal driver 0.0.0.0<br />(baseaddr) 0x7fff70672000,'libsystem_platform.dylib' 0x108297000,'The Sims 4' 0x108297000,'The Sims 4' 0x108297000,'The Sims 4' 0x7fff7067c000,'libsystem_pthread.dylib' 0x7fff7067c000,'libsystem_pthread.dylib'(/baseaddr)</contextdata></report>
@jesslovesuu hiiii so ive been playing around and I am pretty sure I have saved my problem. you may have fixed it already and this may go all wrong in the near future so I will update you if that happens but anyway
I found the issue was with one of the .t4script I had downloaded recently, im not sure which one but ive kept them all out to be sure. so, if you have downloaded any form of .t4script recently weather its a mod or cc, I recommend you take them out into a separate folder (if you wish to try to find with is causing the problem) or deleting them. if you haven't downloaded a t4script then try the same with packages or follow the next steps to see if this helps- rename your sims 4 folder under Electronic arts to 'sims 4 backup' or anything else creative, as long as you can find it again. Don't worry, none of your mods or saves will be deleted
- relaunch your game. it should load and will crate a fresh new 'sims 4' folder. now when I was doing this I loaded a new game just to make sure everything was right, and then exited and relaunched just to make sure everything was working fine
- add your cc files into your new mods folder. again if you want to play it safe only add .package files and run then exit and reboot your game a couple times to make sure everything works
- add the scripts. don't get to exited if it works first time round, play your new save just make sure your mods work and everything, then exit and once again reboot your game. if everything works it should be fixed! it looks like the game only crashes if it runs the mod one time round.
you should be safe to add your previous saves. I would recommend lowering your settings as well. if this didn't work it might be a problem with your graphics drive and when that crashes it'll take the game with it. happy gaming 🙂
