I think my Sims 4 save files are gone

Hi everyone,  I know similar questions have been asked before but I'm not super tech savvy and I can't understand what to do from the advice on those posts 😬  Here's my problem described as detailed as I can:

Today when I opened up Sims 4 I didn't have the option to go into one of my saved games like usual.  Instead, the game looked exactly like it did the first time I ever opened it as if I had never played it before.  When I go into my EA folder -> Sims4 -> Saves,  the saves folder is completely empty.  However, when I just open up Finder on my Mac and search "saves", Two folders appear.  One is full of files that have names like "Slot_00000004.save 12.ver1".  Based on what I've read on other posts, I think that these are my Sims 4 save files.  There is also another folder titled "saves" that has only 3 files with names like "slot_670eff32-a367-413b-8a77-726c0649743e.sa".  I don't know if these are related to the Sims or just something else entirely.

The same thing happens when I click on the screenshots folder by following the path of EA- > Sims4 -> screenshots.  The screenshots folder appears completely empty.  But when I search "screenshots" on Finder, a folder appears titled "screenshots" that contains all of my Sims 4 screenshots.

Please help me!  I am into this game too deep to lose my progress and start over.  Can you let me know what I need to do to get my saves back in the simplest directions possible?  I'm not that good with computer stuff.  Thanks so much!!

If your Sims 4 folder was in the correct location you would not get any positive search results back as the Electronic Arts folder is hidden from Spotlight if it is in the correct location (Users > [useraccount] > Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4).

Please do the spotlight search again, click once on a save to highlight it and hold down the Command key. The file path to that save will be shown at the bottom of the Spotlight window. Or search in a Finder window to locate the file and file path.

@Bluebellflora thanks for your reply!  When I search in finder for the saves folder and highlight it this is the path it shows me: iCloud Drive > Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 > saves.  If this isn't how it's supposed to be, how do I put it back in the right place?

    Hey all.

I went ahead and locked this thread since it's rather old.

If you're having some trouble with an issue like this, and the steps mentioned earlier in the thread aren't helping please feel free to create a new thread and we'll take a look.

    Thanks!
