Your Mac is not compatible with the game - https://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-Mac/CURRENT-ISSUE-The-Sims-3-Issues-playing-on-newer-post-2013-Macs/m-p/4935394#U4935394
I've been playing on an iMac 27" late 2015 for two years. I recently updated from El Capitan to High Sierra, the issue did occur while I was still on El Capitan and continues now on High Sierra. I ran my game on high setting with about 12GB of CC. The Sims 4 did state that it recognised my Graphic Card but it was unsupported the first time I installed the game but I've been able to play for two years with no problems at all.
Three days ago the game just refused to launch, the icon appears but it states that the game is unresponsive.
I tried the following:
- taking my Mods folder out : unresponsive
- repairing my game : unresponsive
- taking my Saves folder out : game starts but unable to go back a few minutes after closing it (even after taking the Saves folder out)
- deleting The Sims 4 folder : unresponsive
- uninstall and reinstall The Sims 4 : game starts but unable to go back a few minutes after closing it (even after taking the Saves folder out)
- uninstall and reinstall Origin and The Sims 4 : game starts but unable to go back a few minutes after closing it (even after taking the Saves folder out)
Note that once I took the Mods folder out I didn't put it back, so my game has no CC in it.
In conclusion, my game either goes unresponsive right away or won't launch after I played it no matter for how long, with or without CC.
Today I found out that it also happens with The Sims 3, SimCity and Cities Skylines.

Please run the Origin reset tool, disable Origin in-game then try again.
