I just tried downloading an update for my game, and before that i had around 17.5 GB free on my laptop. I still have around 2.5 GB left to download for the update and I am getting the notification that my laptop storage is full. How is it that a game update takes up that much space, when the game took up around 60 GB on my laptop before I started to download the update?

Nothing else worked so I uninstalled another app that was taking up 5 GB of space on my laptop and when the download of the update finished i had 23 GB of storage free on my laptop.
Is there another way that I can update my game without having to leave 20+ GB of my storage free just for the update to go through, since that storage will be freed up right after the update finishes anyway?
It's like an OS update. It's not just wanting the space for the update for the installation as a whole. It's not going to use all that space when finished. Restart your Mac to clear VRAM and see if that helps.
