I have very kindly been given a new 16" M1 Max - and, frankly, this MBP is insane! All the issues I was having on my old 2016 MBP are gone - but I now have a new problem; there seems to be some kind of 'offset' between where the mouse pointer is and what's actually being highlighted (for example, if I'm trying to select floors, it highlights styled rooms).

This is actually the main issue - I cannot select floors at all. I've messed about with the resolution and (both within the game and in macOS settings), but no matter what I have it set to, the problem persists. Now, as this machine hasn't been around long, I'm not really expecting much help here, but I was hoping someone might have some suggestions (EA tech bods, any ideas...?).

Tried taking a screenshot but, even though I've got 'show mouse pointer' selected in the screenshot app settings, it's impossible to include it in the shot, so you'll just have to visualise it. Imagine the pointer is on floors, but it's showing 'styled rooms' as selected.

I do wish there was a keyboard shortcut key combo. 

There is one slight quirk with these new MBPs - they don't have an 'alt' key - took me a while to realise that it's now labelled 'option' (still works for free-placing).

Okay, upon further investigation, it appears that this issue is peculiar to running the game in full screen mode - the problem doesn't exist if I run it windowed. The native resolution for the 16" M1 Max screen is 3,256 x 2,234, which seems very strange, that's not 16:9. 3,256 is divisible by 16 and 9, but 2,234 isn't divisible by 9 or 16. The windowed mode resolution is 3,256 x 1,970 (which I've just done the maths - the ratio is 16:5.82! 1,970 isn't divisible by 5.82. Apple, go home, you are DRUNK!

Consider this a heads up should you be considering one of these beasts - I don't know how EA/Maxis are going to be able to work with this. 

Just opened up Sims on my new 14" MacBook, however the cursor seems to actually be hovering over the object it is right below on. I'm trying to play the game in fullscreen, are there any game options that I should check? My display type is fullscreen, laptop mode is off, resolution 3,024x1,964. Thank you!

hello. i am having troubles with my mouse cursor, but only with the sims 4. i use a macbook pro (this is actually a new laptop and i recently switched my game over to this laptop from my old macbook air. i did not have this problem on my macbook air) when i hover over something i want to click on i cant do anything unless i move my cursor below the thing i want to click on. this makes accessing anything on the bottom of the screen virtually impossible. my mouse is totally fine when i use my laptop for anything else, but as soon as the sims 4 boots up it starts acting up again. it effects every part of the game, from the main menu, cas, build mode, and live mode. and for additional information this issue started when i was just using the trackpad but i recently got a bluetooth mouse and there is no change between the mouse and the trackpad. any ideas on what could fix this? 

I feel like you’re describing my problem. Also a new MBPro, switched from MBAir, same issue with the mouse. Hope someone helps us solve it!

ive been playing the sims 4 on Mac for a long time now and I’ve finally had enough. Whenever I open the game it enlarges everything outside of the game. Icons, the dock, other open app windows.

Putting the game into windowed mode fixes it but I don’t like to play that way and putting it back into full screen doesn’t help. I tried to change the UI and that helped for a time however the things outside of game were still a bit larger than normal, but then I kept fiddling with it and now it’s back to being massive.

anybody got any permanent solutions?

I managed to figure that out after some more playing around. And I have the right resolution but then I can’t click directly on buttons… if that makes sense. To click on ‘game options’ for example I have to move the curser down below the button. I’ve tried repairing the game etc, but it won’t fix…

Ok I hope the photo helps. I’ve removed all CC/mods, game version is normal, not sure where to run antivirus but I have a software that detects and removes malware, tried normal and hard repair in origin. Hope that all makes sense! Thanks for your help!

Your cursor is not clicking in the correct place because, it seems from other reports, of the camera notch in your Mac display. You need to play in windowed mode to workaround it. I've merged your thread into this one on the issue.

What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Cats & Dogs, Seasons, Snowy Escape, Journey to Batuu, Spa Day, Fitness
Steps: This occurs throughout the game, including before loading a save.
What happens when the bug occurs? While in native resolution, 3456x2234, the cursor doesn't line up with the UI (ie., the space where buttons highlight and can be clicked doesn't match where they appear on the screen.) Toggling "Retina Display" doesn't affect the issue. I think I actually know what's going on- it appears related to the notch portion of the top of the display. In 3456x2160 the cursor stops at the bottom of the notch and the issue doesn't occur, where in the native 3456x2234 the cursor can go all the way to the top (past the portion of the screen the game actually uses,) and doesn't line up with the UI. Staying in the slightly cut off resolution works okay as a workaround, but then frustratingly that affects the desktop and other fullscreen applications. Also worth noting that the game on this display defaults to a scaled 2560x1600. (TBH if it just defaulted to 3456x2160 I probably wouldn't have ever noticed the issue.)
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Turning off Mods/Scripts or removing everything from the mods folder have no effect

I'm playing Sims 4 on my Macbook Pro - Monterey version and I'm unable to directly click on buttons. If it allows me to click, my mouse has to be sort of below the actual button. However, more often than not, it does not allow me to click. I have one expansion pack which is City Living. 

I've tried repairing it and even uninstalling and reinstalling origin and Sims 4 itself but nothing seems to be working.

Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you.
