Re: Game Data Incomplete, grey llamas, red and white sims, broken textures

Hello everyone:

I am starting this thread because I think it's important for everyone to know possible issues that happened after I installed the expansions: Life & Death, Discover University, 4 Season and High School Years. I must say that the issues I have mostly dealt with, but not entirely, which is a bummer. I will try to keep it succinct.

So, after I installed that four expansions, several issues arose in the game. They were independently caused by the presence of the expansions active in the game, considering I am using a Mac mini with the  iOS 15.7 (24G222). I must add that I had installed the base game and the expansion in an external drive (SSD card) which was connected through an adaptar via USB-C. I also DON'T USE MODS. Unfortunately, I don't have screenshots of the problem, so I will be as descriptive as possible:

  • Life and Death: This was the bigger problem. The symptoms are described in this recen thread, which hasn't been solved yet. Basically, the entire lower bar was gone, clicking was not working, no buttons were working, the menu didn't appear, and the screen went black after attempting to go to "Manage Worlds". The Sims wasn't controllable. The problem disappeared when the expansion was disabled from the Main Menu.
  • 4 Season: The new items and things available were not... well, available. In their place, a big red X appeared in the catalogue, and the few that appeared had the appearances glitched and the objects could not be placed in the world. I assume that the red and white squares with the question marks were also due to this expansion. Again, the problem disappeared when the expansion was disabled.
  • High School Years: The neighbourhood wasn't, and isn't, accesible from my old saves. It works when I start a new game, but the idea for the entire game is to keep on playing with the old saves. This is a problem I couldn't fix at all, so I would urge the developers to seek into this.

I solved the problem following the steps here. I also read this article and reached to the conclusion that the problem was having the game in the external SSD card, although the very thread recommends using one for those who want to have the game external to the hard drive. But honestly, I don't know what the problem was. And as I mentioned, I could not access the lots of the Copperdale neighbourhood with the previous save I had. I had to save the households, the lots, and I placed them in a new save. This allows for the sims of the households to retain their jobs, skills, and (I hope) the satisfaction points, but the relationships among them were rebooted. I must not say that all their other friends are gone from their lives, so... Not ideal, EA.

Anyway, I hope this helps.

P.S. I could not detect issues with the Discover University expansion, because once I installed the Life and Death, the game was unplayable, so no time to test it.

alvinius9  I've merged your new post into the master thread for the various symptoms of an incomplete or corrupt install.  You've already posted in an ongoing thread that covers your other issues, and the rest are covered in this one, which includes numerous replies from players using an external drive.  It's helpful to use existing threads whenever they cover your issues rather than starting a new one.
