Note that fast way to also clear an application that is getting this Gatekeeper warning is to right-click (or Control+Click by holding down the Control key) on the application icon, then selecting "Open" from the menu that is presented. You will then get the same error that you previously saw, but there will now be an "Open" button along with text and "Cancel" button. If you click "Open" the application will open as expected and the Gatekeeper quarantine will be removed.
