Re: The Sims 4 Mac Legacy Edition thread

According to EA, Origin, and my computer, I should be able to continue playing the regular sims 4 with university. But when I go to play, it tells me I have to play the legacy edition which is not what I want. My laptop is a MacBook Air OS X 10.9.5 with intel core i5 and is a mid 2013. Why can I not play, and how do I fix this.

Please help.

@spencer10jax I'm going assume you have the 13" Macbook Air. The specs are at: https://support.apple.com/kb/SP678?locale=en_US

According to that your GPU is an Intel HD Graphics 5000. You should be able to get Metal support on that Mac by install macOS El Capital (10.11) or newer. At that point you will not be required to run the Legacy Edition. You MUST use a version of macOS that support Metal, and you must use it on hardware that supports Metal. Your current configuration supports one of these two requirements.
