A Mac from 2013 can be upgraded to 10.15 Catalina therefore you are able to download and install EA App. Please post the specs of your Mac - Apple > About This Mac to confirm which model you have.

It’s 13 inch early 2011 version 10.12.6 I can’t update it any further

Thanks, that's helpful. Correct, you cannot upgrade it further and you also cannot play the Sims 4 because the Mac does not support Metal. See the opening post of this Legacy thread for further information. If you want to play Sims 4 you need to use a compatible computer, Windows or Mac, doesn't matter, but one that can run the current version of the game.
