Reusing A Product Code On The SAME Account

When I redeemed codes to get some expansion packs that were on my CD, it said "Unknown error occurred" or something. I followed some steps on youtube because many of the comments said that it worked ...

Thanks for the help Mai, But when I was opening my game with only the sims 3 generations installed, it asked me to confirm my game code since it was apparently invalid. I tried several times.

I even done it with and without the dashes, but it  still didn't work.
