saved file not syncing with game

My sims 4 game would load until I clicked on my saved game and then the whole game would crash so I copied and pasted my sims 4 save file and made it a backup. Then I put it back in to the electronic arts folder and everything is gone. I open up the game and nothing is there, none of my saved games are there. Its like I just bought the game for the first time. I don't know how to make the backup folder sync with the game so all of my saved games and mods will come back. Now there is two sims 4 folders in electronic arts section, the one named "Sims 4 folder" is my backup with everything on it. "The Sims 4" folder is the one that is syncing with the game that has nothing on it. I don't know how to make the game work with the backup folder.
