Saves and mods vanished!
hello out there, i’m mildly panicking at the moment. I had an unfortunate incident where some save files went in the trash can of eternity on my macbook… i was able to retrieve said files through apple verified software and they don’t seem to be corrupted, but since this occurrence neither these saves or my mods are working. i’m not sure if it’s to do with the most recent update that occurred to the EA app or the game.
i’ve tried everything, moved folders and files, uninstall and reinstall both the game and the EA app and to no avail! the game and EA app live on an external hard drive and has for the past 4 months with no issues. its 8 years of gameplay and 2600+ hours and im clutching at straws desperate for restoration of my game.

It was in the Sims 4 folder>Saves>and then the files. Which is how they were previously. However, I was able to contact EA Help and was talked through the process! I think I had a corrupted mod, so i had to extract both save and mod files, then delete the sims 4 file, repair the game and then open a new one to generate a new file where I was then able to restore what i previously had! moved the mods back in batches and was able to weed out the bad ones.
In response to your side note it was a piece of software called disk drill. it only works if you haven’t made too many additional changes to files on your hard drive as it works based on how recently things were deleted but it was a saviour! Easy to install/uninstall.
