Sims to an external hard drive from a MacBook Air please?

Hi there,

Can I have help please transferring Sims 4 from a Mac Book Air to an external hard drive or cloud based storage set up please. It takes up so much space on the hard drive. Thankyou!

Do you want the game transferred or the user data such as saves, or both?

To transfer the game simply drag the Sims 4 app and the Sims 4 packs folder to the external then open Origin > Preferences > Installs & Saves and change the game library location to the external.

To transfer your Sims 4 folder that contains your saves/mods/tray/screenshots and all other user data to the external you need to trick the game into thinking it is still stored locally in the Documents folder - https://bluebellflora.com/2020/03/01/if-youre-running-out-of-space-to-play-the-sims-here-are-your-options-for-storing-your-data-externally/
  •  Hi there,

Thanks for that. I copied to an external drive but I can't get that drive to come up in the change location section. How do I do that? I apologize! I have no idea how this works, I'm trying to make it work for my daughter who loves it. Then once I work that out can I delete from my computer's hard drive? Then I have no idea about user data, I guess it would be ideal if it was balloon the external hard drive. But getting the game and packs off is the first step.

    Thanks for your time

Are you running Catalina? If so go into System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy and make sure Origin has Full Disk Access.
