Unable to save on Mac - app stops responding until force quit

What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All expansion packs, Parenthood, outdoor retreat Holiday celebration
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Not sure how, but every time I try to save the application stops responding and after a while I have to force quit. I go into build mode to buy art items for the mansion baron aspiration so maybe its because I use build mode, but I am not playing much because I don't want to play without being able to save.
What happens when the bug occurs? The app stops responding, frozen on the saving screen for much longer than usual, eventually requiring a force quit in which all progress is lost several times. It has happened over several days and both origins and sims are updated.
What do you expect to see? Being able to save gameplay at all.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Never used.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure
Please fix this issue as this is preventing any gameplay at all
