When I enter into build mode and place one thing, my game freezes.

After the most recent patch, I have been trying to play my save file and I am trying to add on another room. I go into build mode and place a new wall, and that works fine. But then, I try to add onto it, or change it in any way, and it doesn't place or change. I then decided to go into live mode, but my game will not unpause, and is stuck on "paused". I also tried saving and exiting, but the game froze and will not let me do anything after that point. 

I do have mods installed, but it is not any of my mods, I removed my mods folder and then tried again, and it did the same thing. I've tried restarting my laptop as well, but nope. I fear it's a game glitch. Does anyone know a work-around or how to get this to stop? Or do I just hope they fix it in a patch?
